The Tea Place is sure to have a tea you will enjoy. Worry not, if you are not in a tea mood. We also boast a variety of other hot and iced beverages, including speciality coffees, chai, steamers, Italian sodas, iced cappuccinos and bubble teas.
“We grew up drinking tea – it was my sister who convinced me to come back to Edmonton and open The Tea Place in 2004,” explains Quan Phung. “We’ve tasted a lot of tea to be able to offer our customers the best flavours.”
Don’t let the name fool you, while The Tea Place will surely have the brew you desire among their extensive selection of delicious teas from around the world (along with their immensely popular bubble tea), this friendly family-owned and -operated business can offer you much more than just a tasty beverage.
“We both always wanted to run our own business, so we did our research and found there was a lack of tea shops in the city that offered meals that were quick and healthy at the same time.” Indeed, their specialities go beyond their beverages, and by keeping everything fresh and the quality high, The Tea Place ensures that the customers keep coming back for their great value meals. “Our goal is to take care of our customers,” says Quan.
A tea house and café, The Tea Place serves up lunch items, including soup and Panini, and more than 200 kinds of tea, including bubble tea. Choose from fresh fruit milky bubble tea in flavours such as chocolate and strawberry or watermelon, dairy-free fresh fruit bubble tea (made with fruit and green tea), regular milky bubble tea (blended black tea, milk and flavour) or a regular bubble tea without the dairy. Other yummy flavours include sour raspberry, pina colada, strawberry and kiwi, and avocado. Choices for bubbles are: tapioca, lychee, mango stars or sour green apple.
This pretty café and tea lounge has pyramids of tea stacked all over the place – there are more than 100 varieties from around the globe to drink or buy. There’s a sniffing bar (their name for it, not mine), where you can smell samples of loose tea to see if you fancy their fragrant aroma. Teas include everything from dandelion herb and root to iron Buddha (a kind of oolong).
