John graduated from UBC Law School in 1974 and was called to the bar in May, 1975. After beginning his practice in Mission that year, he founded Taylor, Tait, Ruley & Company in 1978 with Gordon Taylor.
John’s practice is primarily in the area of family law, including divorce, separation agreements, cohabitation and marriage agreements, property division issues, spousal and child support, adoption, custody and access issues, and constructive and resulting trust claims. John also has extensive experience with estate planning and estate litigation issues including Wills, Estates and Succession Act claims. John is a member of the Collaborative Divorce bar and resolves many difficult issues through the mediation process.Over the past 40 years John has been actively involved in the community including being a member and Chairman of the Hospital Board, member and Chairman of the Fraser House Society, member of Ministry of Health Closer to Home Commission, member of the Mission Health Care Task Force, and member of the Law Society Discipline Sub-Committee.
