Meet the owner

At the corner of Kingsway and East Broadway you’ll find a delightful hidden gem in French Made Baking, proudly brought to you by passionate Parisian husband-and-wife team David and Catherine Introligator.

David is a self-taught chef and can work hours on recipes to offer you the most authentic and tasty French treats, including croissants, macarons, canelés, gluten-free sweet and savoury crepes, lava cakes, madeleine cookies, and shortbreads. In addition to their delightful baked goods, French Made Baking offers customizable wedding, bridal, or baby shower favours, as well as stunning French macaron pyramids.

“We believe that food is not just a basic necessity, it is also a pleasure, and we intend to make people happy with our baking,” says Catherine.

David’s creations are a delight for all five senses: they look pretty, they smell nice, they melt in your mouth, they taste good, and each one has a distinctive sound when you take the first bite. Stepping inside this charming neighbourhood café, you’ll find Catherine and her team of baristas’ friendly French and English service to be as delightful as the pastries themselves.

Sweet sips to enjoy at the Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival

This charming European patisserie in Mount Pleasant is always a popular spot for Hot Chocolate Festival fans. Owners David and Catherine Introigator, both French natives, will be preparing four imaginative fairytale-inspired drinks throughout the 27-day event: The Nutcracker’s Nectar (roasted hazelnut milk chocolate), Hansel & Gretel’s Temptation (gingerbread orange blonde hot chocolate), Beyond the Milky Way (a vegan-friendly dark hot chocolate with almond milk and pear) and Snow White’s Delight Affogato (a thick kirsch-flavoured drinking chocolate poured over vanilla ice cream). Flavours will be available on a rotating basis – so visit often to experience all four enchanting options.

Where to find lovely lemon desserts in Vancouver

Where to find lovely lemon desserts in Vancouver

Between the unbelievable ceiling in this tiny café (neo-classical, vaulted and painted with a mural of a cloudy blue sky) and their “Le citron intense” macaron (lemon-lime with white chocolate ganache in the centre), you’ll be in lemon heaven. Other lemony choices include a gorgeous-looking lemon meringue tart with a crisp shortcrust, and classic French madeleines with lemon zest and vanilla bean.
