It is hard to understand how this restraunt is chosen as number one in Barrie. We just recently moved here and relied on this site to help us choose a place to dine. The food was probably better than ok but not great enough to orvercome what it lacks in atmosphere and size. I can see it being more of a lunch venue. the staff/owners are very nice and the food is ok but we just didn't understand why it was rated so high. Shrimp pakor was great, fried onion baji was heavy and greasy. Mushroom dish was great, \\chicken tikka ok too. Rice pudding was really good too.
We had the pleasure of dining at Tiffin's this afternoon with our two children and it was a wonderful experience. The food was exceptional, the portion size was generous, and the service was excellent. Will definitely dine here again! It's a real treat to have excellent and authentic Indian food north of the city. Well worth the drive! Thank you so much, we'll see you soon!
After sampling other Indian food in Barrie, no other restaurant comes even close to Tiffins. It is family owned and operated and has a wonderfully cozy and at-home atmosphere! The food there is absolutely top-notch. The food was never too spicy or bland, and there is such a wide menu selection that there is something for even the most pickiest of eaters! My personal favorite is the Butter Chicken. If you want to try something new and exciting but don't want to break the budget, go to Tiffins, you will not be sorry
My wife, daughter and I were really lucky to find this lovely place in downtown Barrie. We are from Midhurt and often visit Barrie couple times a week. And now for sure this little Indian restaurant will ALWAYS be a priority to visit. All the entrees were excellent ( palak pneer was a bit spicy for me, next time I will go mild ) The Naan bread was awesome. I will HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place for curry lovers. A true gem !
We went to Tiffans Curry in a Hurry after doing the Flying Monkeys Brewery Tour just down the street. The short review is that this is a GREAT place for lunch! Generous portion sizes, the naan was soft and fresh and the prices were good too. It was lunch time and my girlfriend and I each ordered a lunch combo and a drink. She ordered a Butter Chicken Combo and a Mango Lassi and I ordered a Chicken Tikka Combo and a Flying Monkeys Anti Gravity Ale which they have on tap. The Mango Lassi was smooth a delicious - of course my beer was top-notch well! One of the lunch combos came with a soup. Mulligatawny style. The soup was nice and spicy without being overly greasy which we've experienced at other Indian restaurants in the past. We shared the soup. The Butter Chicken came on a huge dish with generous amounts of rice and side dishes of curried potatoes. The chicken itself was in a tasty bright red sauce, It was delicious. The Chicken Tikka came in a slightly smaller dish because that was the combo that included the soup. Again with generous amounts of rice and side dishes of curried potatoes AND a green mint dip for the naan. Since both combos come with naan they brought out a huge basket of warm fresh naan lightly brushed with butter on one side. It was soft and delicious. We had just come from an EXCELLENT tour of the brewery (which we would highly recommend) and then had a great lunch! What a great day in Barrie!!
Beautiful Indian food. The food is not only delicious but it agrees with me: very pure, healthy food spiced just right. My body actually feels better after eating there. One of the best Indian restaurants I have had the pleasure of eating in. Buffet and a la carte, it's all good.
Went here with a group of friends after work and it is very good food. Each of us got something so we can sample them and all were very delicious. I liked mine the best. The service was great, very friendly. I will definitely return.
Since we found this little Indian restaurant in downtown Barrie, we frequent Tiffins every week or so. We travel all the way from the Newmarket area for the relaxing atmosphere, the friendly owner(s), the delicious food and the delightful aromas. We have tried MANY different dishes and never had one that we didn't fall in love with. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys authentic Indian food! This food is beyond delicious and highly addictive :)
Love this place: the food, the friendly service, the very affordable lunch specials. I try to get here at least once a week, and now that I've tried the Mulligatawny soup, the spicy tomato soup and the chicken and corn soup, I'm even more looking foward to what the latest soup creation will be! I've recommended this restaurant to friends who are vegetarian (and they in turn have recommended it to friends!) and they drive in from Orillia to enjoy the wonderful food. Not the fanciest of places, but clean, bright and friendly. Besides, I'm there for the quality of the food...and it never fails to please!
We were in Barrie looking for some curry and found Tiffins. Everything from the service to the appetizers to the main course was excellent. Even the home made pistachio ice-cream at the end of the meal was great. We will definite make this one of our favourite restuants for curry.
We stopped in for a work day lunch and the food exceeded our expectations for a small, affordable eatery. Table service with a smile and lunch prices from $5.99 - $8.99. Everything was "home made" including the generous basket of Naan bread that came with our meals. Will definitely return to this hidden gem!
From the minute you step inside, you feel like you have found a little slice of India - without the heat and crowds! The smell is incredible. The decorating is authentic and the owner greets you with a smile. I have stopped in many times for their lunch menu specials and never been disappointed. I started with the 'safe' stuff (chicken, rice) and moved into things I can't pronounce. The butter chicken is the best I've ever tasted and I have now discovered Channa Masala. Deep fried bread (almost like a delicious fresh donut - and HUGE) and Chickpeas cooked with authentic indian spices. (I know because I asked the chef). The food was tasty but not too spicy, in fact they ask how much heat you want in the meal. I've tried the normal 'mild' and find the 'medium' is just perfect. Wash it all down (if you can eat it all) with a homemade Mango Smoothie - indescribable! All this for under $10 for lunch. It has become one of my favorite estaurants. So far I have dined in a few times and called ahead twice to have my lunch ready for take out. Worked well and I plan to go for dinner one night in the next few weeks. Great value, great service, outstanding food!.
