McCabe's Irish Pub & Grill offers the perfect Irish and local mix. In the day it's more laid-back: ideal for lunch time snacks and caffeine fixes. The early evening cocktail scene invites those who are looking to relax or watch a popular sporting event.
I was hesitant to go but went anyway. I think most of the menu is frozen. The fries and wings are frozen, nothing special about that. I guess they do not realize that fresh actually taste better. The place appears nice, but if you look closely it is in need of a good cleaning. I think they just hit the high spots.Service was just Okay, she could tell I was not pleased with the place. I will not go back, there are better places to spend my money.
sounded promising, food made up for terrible service
We heard this place was had good food and a fun environment. I also heard they had the best wings in Guelph. To start, the service was probably the worst I have ever had. We got seated and waited about 15 min before I went to the bar and asked the bar tender to please find a server to serve us. By the time the kid came over, people who were seated at the same time as us already had their apps and drinks. He basically walked past us and ignored us until the bartender got his attention.
Finally we ordered and got our food. The food was actually really good. My gf had a vegetarian burger and salad, I had 20 wings and fries. The veg burger was delicious and the wings were really good, so far, top 3 in Guelph that I've had.
Aside from the terrible terrible service, which didn't really improve, the food was good. There is clearly no training or expectations set by managers. In fact, I didn't see one.
