Our waiter Brendan was soooooooo wonderful, spectacular service with cuisine to match! Definitely, a must try! Enjoy
I dont know if they charge more for the nice view of city hall and the market, but this place is pricey when you compare it to the portion sizes. The food is good, and the menu has some great selection, but if you are hungry like I am, be prepared to drop on average $50 per person
The calamari is a terrific appetizer. It has flavorful black olives and pan seared squid. I liked the Bread served with the olive oil and vinaigrette. Ordered a nice White Wine. Main dish was too salty but other than that... it was really good.
As a group, we typically explore Kingston restaurants each Friday night. We have tried Casa before and were not overly impressed but we thought we'd give it another try. Firstly, in our party we had a young child which obviously displeased the manager who made offending comments to other guests regarding the child's behaviours right in front of our table. Secondly, all four of us had agreed that the food was "OK" but we've had much better. Thirdly, although our server was friendly, knowledgable and efficient (which we didnt' have the last time we were here). The manager approached as after 2 of our party members had left to uproot us from our table to a "table for 2". Although we left, this proved to be an awkward transistion and a terrible way to end our not so great meal.
My girlfriend was comming in for a visit from a different city and, last minute, I decided to take her to CASA. When we got there it was packed! I was sure we would not get a table, but the staff was very accomodating and we got lucky because one of the reseravations was running late! We got a table and the envionment was AMAZING! We had a REALLY nice dinner. Our waitress was very helful with our wine questions, and was very attentive with respect to keeping our glasses full! The meal was prepared fairly quickly. Our waitress was carefull not to interupt us, and at the end of the evening my friend was thoughrally impressed with Kingston! This was my second time in CASA and I will definately come back there!!! It is also a great place for a romantic date!!! The lighting and environment is really nice, as long as you remember to MAKE A RESERVATION!
As I travel to Kingston (from Toronto) from time to time due to business, I have managed to hit most of the higher end restaurants there. Casa Domenico is one of those that I tend to enjoy returning to often times more than others. The food is great, the staff knowledgeable and while I have found it fairly noisy, it does not take away from my overall experience. I meet with clients in restaurants constantly and aside from one or two other restaurants in Kingston, Casa is never a letdown. Looking forward to going back.
The food at Casa was very delicious and had excellent presentation. This is a well established restaurant so I expected this. Cons: Our server was not terribly familiar or well versed with the wine menu. We had a few questions about some of the bottles we were getting and he seemed either indifferent or ignorant. Also the deserts, while excellent, were not that inspiring. I would have liked to see a little more innovation in this respects but Casa is definitely worth going to for a special occasion.
What's new? NOTHING! That's my only complaint about this restaurant. We have been here many times but are getting tired of same old same old. No changes on the menu for years, there is only one beef entree. What is on the menu is excellent and compares favourably with high end restaurants in Toronto and Montreal. Actually we do have another complaint: desserts are boring and uninspired. We'll be back when some new entrees area available.
been to other fine dining places around Europe and Casa is a bit pricy for the restaurant's size and training level of staff - most fine dining places in Italy wouldn't hire students, I thk Casa does. waitress often interrupted our conversations to take orders and for billing, things of the sorts - again characteristic of student and part time (less trained) staff. Staff should watch for non verbal cues as to when to approach a table. If two ppl are talking and have not even opened the menu... repeated interruptions (4) to take orders are annoying. Wine was excellent . Food was excellent. Staff were polite, just haven’t been trained in fine manners.
We did not make reservations but managed to secure a good table. Service was excellent. Young lady who served us was very helpful and attentive. Food was great. First time here but will definitely be back. Restaurant was full all night.
Classic big-fish-small-pond restaurant. Considered among the class of Kingston, one realizes that when compared to similar restuarants in larger cities, Casa Domenico falls a bit short. Classy but pricey, the menu is limited, the pastas are only slightly-above average, and the service is so-so for a relatively pricey place. That being said, the food is solid and probably the best Italian available in Kingston, even if it doesn't compare to bigger city places.
The best restaurant in Kingston! Food is extremely delicious and service was very kind and friendly. Prices are a bit high but very worth it.
Wonderful menu. Each choice was well served, prepared and thoroughly enjoyed. Service is great but the food better.
Food was FANTASTIC. Definitely recommend trying the Pere al Noce and the Manzo.
We visited this restaurant for an evening out. It was our second visit so we anticipated fabulous food and we were not disappointed. The Tagliatelle ai Gamberi is simply amazing; the addition of preserved lemon is unexpected and compliments the dish completely. Overall, my favourite restaurant in the city of Kingston.
Lunch was great! Nice selection of menu items to choose from. Will definitely go back.
Amazing! Service, food, atmosphere - absolutely wonderful! We'll be back
Ambience: Suave, relaxed atmosphere. Solid sound system distributes the chilled music well across the room, allowing for conversation. Service: Front of house did not match the quality of the food. Server had to be coaxed into providing compensation for an error. Food: Presentation- simple with few garnishes, but very elegant. Seafood was fresh. Meats were above average. Alcohol: Server didn't approach wine tasting with proper ettiquette, but the selection and quality was great. Service: Could have been an all-star night were it not for an issue with the service. A botch-up in the server's understanding of the menu led to a let-down of one of the members of the group which was not addressed properly. After coaxing, we were treated with compensation, but the whole situation was unfortunate for such a professional establishment. All-around: A special night with a few unfortunate details. We will return.
I was in canada for holiday from italy, and had dinner in casa domenico, the food was very good, very researched mediterranean cuisin (i'm sorry for my english) but please write the menu in correct italian.
Used to be my favorite restaurant in Kingston but the menu selection is so limited now it is difficult to have a really enjoyable meal. What happened to Rotini Margherita, Pollo al proscuito (sorry about spelling)- add more variety and my friends and I will be back.
