The meatball sandwich on garlic bread is one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. Have to agree with another poster that the fries are too salty. Nice place and friendly staff.
Love copper penny! Been going there since I was a kid (I'm 30). The fish and chips are DELICIOUS. :)
I have been to the copper penny a few times, they have a great selection of dishes, from pasta to fish n chips. they do everything well, but nothing great.
This is the first time since I have been going to the Copper Penny that I have been very disappointed. We went on a Thursday night which was very very busy. Our server seemed very shy and was adequate....slow on drink refills and never did ask us how our meal was. We started with the spinach dip which was okay...there were not many pitas given for the amount of dip and we requested more pitas...only to later see on our cheque that we were charged $1.99 for that! I had the seafood platter which has always been known to contain a lot of food....not on this night. There was a small piece of fish and then two smaller ones a different type, 3 medium shrimp and a very small portion of fries...the quantity did not justify the $13.00 price. The taste was fine but I easily ate the whole platter and was not full when finished. My dinner mate had the philly dip wrap with fries which she did not eat much of the wrap as she did not like the taste although found the fries good. This meal ended up costing $45.00 and was not worth it...I will go back however based on my past experiences however if the quantity of food continues to disappoint, I won't be back.
The food was very good, portion size excellent. Always the best fries anywhere. Service was great despite it being a busy Saturday night. You can't go wrong with the Copper Penny.
Very impressed with our server Tammy. Extremely attentive and patient with our grandkids. The food was great as always and overall very consistant for such a busy spot.
Great place for everyone! Had my first date with my wife at the Copper Penny and we continue to be loyal. Wonderful staff, always busy but very pleasant atmosphere. See you next week!
Haven't been to the penny in quite some time, decided to give it another try. Wanted a simple clubhouse but thought i would try the penny club, huge, dry and everything tasted as if it was processed to heck! not worth my money whatsoever. Service was average at best nothing i wouldnt have expected more from. overall mediocre at best. and the good old mccain fries with chicken soup base, god thats nasty!
We stopped in on our way uptown to grab a bite to eat. I orded the chicken ceasar wrap with the soup ofe day, the soup was good.. had good flavours but you can tell it was watered down. My wrap was TERRIBLE! the dressing was just mayonnaise, the bacon was fake bacon bits and there were only 3 slices of chicken (no exxageration!) for 11.00,, it was definitly not worth my money!! They didn't even have a regular club house on the menu we had to substitute for sliced turkey and we still ended up paying extra for it. Our server was nice, when she was around, didnt stop by that much and they werent even busy at all. the only good things were the fries, but that wasnt even what we went there to eat. Definitly would not suggest going there for anything but the fries.
I have been a regular customer of The Copper Penny for years, along with my wife we visit at least once a week. Although the restaurant is small and can seem overwhelmingly busy at times, we have a great respect for the staff and Management here, They are always polite, efficent and energetic. The food is always of great value and delicious. If you have the time to wait for a table, I highly recommend The Copper Penny! Great job everybody!
The chicken parmy wasn't that great.. chicken was dry and there wasn't alot in terms of portion size.. probably won't go there again.
Over-rated and too busy. Why wait for so long jsut to get average pub food?
Food was boring and predictable. Over priced for what you get. Great selection of desserts though.
We ordered take out which we were told would be 15 minutes. It ended up taking 35. It was very busy, but people who came in were, in my opinion, rudelt told it would be 15 minute for a table and encouraged to have a seat at the bar. The wait staff appeared overwhemled and many people came in and weren't even acknowledged. We were left standing there (there is nowhere you can stand that you're not in the way) with some other poor person waiting for his order. The guy who served us had absolutley no personality and wasn't very friendly. The food was good once we got it, although they did forget my side of gravy and the fries were a little cold.
The food is great, since entering the food service industrie there are not may restaunts i will go to. this one i love a plan to visit again. It is great for small parties and the service is vary great they make you feel like a friend and do not rush you out, your more then welcome to finish your meal and let it settle with a cup of coffee.
Food was delicious! We had to wait for quite a while before we were seated, while many servers in the place stared at us, but made no attempt to find us a seat. (This was the same for a couple of other parties of 2 who were huddled inside the door as well.) Once we were seated, service was quite good. The waitress missed part of an order, but was very good at refilling drinks. Great menu with tons of variety; it took us a long time to decide what to order! Food was very affordable. My entire order came to about 11 bucks, taxes included.
Totally awesome, food is awesome, there fries are totally awesome, staff are awesome, awesome atmosphere!!! Did I say yet the Copper Penny is totally awesome!!!
Service wasn't as good as usual....waiter seemed new and quite young and messed up our order somewhat (asked for no cheese or mayo on wrap but it had it on it, asked for sauteed veggies on the side instead of fries but got both and was charged for the veggies). There is a waitress (Sherry?) who has been there forever and is a phenomenal waitress- very friendly, efficient and just plain great. Worth sitting in her section. Food is awesome here. Excellent portions always and quick service. The fries are to die for and the fish and chips are always great. Generous quantity, not too greasy and tasty cole slaw. Friend said wrap was really good also (although she settled on eating the one given instead of mentioning the waiters' mistake). I love this place for basic, simple and a good variety of food. You will never go away hungry and in most cases, will be carrying a doggy bag with you! Dining here is a Kingston must!
The food took exceptionally long to arrive. They even told us it would be ready in 2 minutes after waiting about 35 minutes, and it took another 15. There weren't many calamari but they were good, although a poor dipping sauce. The chicken breast was frozen before, it had an awful texture. Otherwise the flavours were great and good portion sizes.
well all i can say is one thing. fries. they have the best fries in town and great food to go with it. great for a casual place to grab a tasty bite to eat.
