Devlin's Country Bistro & Catering

My husband & I had reservations for dinner to celebrate our anniversary and the service, food and atmosphere were perfect, as usual. Living down the street, we have been coming here for over 20 years and have always enjoy it. Our appetizers, the shrimp cocktail and honeycomb crusted Gunshill brie cheese with plum compote & roasted garlic were absolutely delicious! Found the atmosphere pleasing and the service acceptable. The special was very good but we agreed had we not ordered the appetizer we may have left a bit hungry. Wine and dessert a bit overpriced for what you get. All in all a pleasant dining experience.

Great food, horrible service!

We drove out to this restaurant from Hamilton as the recommendation of my parents. The bad service started the second we walked in the door. We were given a table right by the door, where there was a constant draft. We asked to switch table, but were told that the other tables were reserved. No reserved sign on the table, and no guests arrived. We then asked another staff member if those tables were reserved, and they were not---so we switched tables on our own. Service was inattentive, we were not checked on until our plates were clean and we had been waiting for about 15 minutes. Food was good, but not good enough to make up for the abysmal service. This server took one look at a young, casually dressed couple and assumed that we were either out of our depth, or we would not be tipping well for good service. You were wrong! Our gratuities always match the service, as you found out!

Who would have thought a restaurant of this calibre would be in our rural area!!!??? We moved from the city to Scotland just over a year ago and have meant to try Devlin's ever since...tonight was our first time and there will be many more. We are already thinking of Christmas and Birthdays! Strongly encourage you to try the chef's surprise - many things you might not otherwise try (and really enjoy!) W.O.W. (Don't let the ticket price of this meal put you off...we had a very 'nice' bottle of wine with our meal!!!!

A quiet dinner for two with good atmosphere, excellent food and attentive service. We couldn't really ask for more.... except for a better selection of vegetarian dishes. This is still one of the best places to eat in the whole area.

WOW, another great meal!

I have been going in since the first day they opened and tonight was just another great meal that compares to some of the best food I have eaten in Hong Kong or Las Vegas just to name a view. Atmosphere now has a better paint color! Food tonight was smashing. If you are looking for a true dinner in a proper restaurant with food and service to boot, this is the best in the area. Prices are not cheap but you get it in value. The rack of lamb, as my guests from Hong Kong will quickly tell you is the best they have ever tasted! Order the pecan pie as it is home made and will not disappoint. I have no idea where " less than Impressed ate" but Devlins does not serve strudel unless he was at one of the cater meals this Restaurant also serves.....but it is not on the menu.....and the cook does not pick the catered meals! These comments made by No.4 is not real and fair! You will not be disappointed!

Only one word describes this place, AMAZING...

Only one word describes this place, AMAZING!!!!! last night i attended the beer and food pairing and was absolutely stunned with the service, atmosphere, and lets not forget the outstanding food. This was such a unique event and from what I here Devlin's does these nights quite a bit, generally with wine. I know the family very well, Chris is an amazing guy, and his two sons are a treat as well. The oldest son I happen to know better then the younger and he adds an extra piece to the business. He is extremely handsome, well manered and overly knowledged for his age. Not to mention a world class chef in the making. He is worth visiting a Devlin's catering job for sure. Check this place out its over the top.

A little less than impressed. Devlin's Country Bistro use to be the best around....not anymore. I do not know if someone is new running the place, the food was tasteless and a majority of the appetizers served where a pre-made frozen product. I thought he stood for more than this. Probably would not return, I do not like to be played.

This was a delight - one of the best restaurants we have experienced outside of major cities. The food was unique, subtle, HOT and presented in a fun way - not too high or too stuffy! The waiter was casual which added to the charm. Worth the drive to Mt. Pleasant!
