Very very poor. Showed up for our reservation 20 minutes early. Waited 50 minutes to be seated. Ordered drinks and then walked out after waiting for 1:45 without seeing a waitress and giving the manager a heads up. Didn't even look at a menu
Came into the restaurant on 11/26/2016 at about 730pm. Hostess didn't speak a word. No greeting or follow me or anything when we got to the table she just walked away. Very rude. Sat down and waited almost 15 min before the server came. Manager was siting right across from us and doing scheduling and was completely oblivious to what was going on around her. When the server asked what we would like we said we were leaving. All she said was ok and left. Rude, stuck up and incompetent employees.
I took a date there for date night. A nice, large booth was offered to us, very romantic and appealing. The food was great in my opinion. Portions were very generous, and the flavour was more of a Canadianized Italian than authentic style. We both enjoyed or meal and the real treat came at dessert with the Chocolate Pizza - amazing and worth going again so I can introduce another to this delicacy. The wine list was surprisingly diverse, a welcome treat. Our server treated us well. Based on my experience I would return to try it out again.
In short: Bad service, bad, overpriced food, and dirty decor. DO NOT go to Johnny Rocco's in Niagara Falls. I can certainly guarantee that I'll never be going back there. The servers seemed friendly enough, but they were clumsy and obnoxious, and kept yelling and laughing to each other over the heads of the customers. They appeared to be having a great time, but their behaviour and language were completely inappropriate in front of customers. Things were constantly being dropped, and our server repeatedly spilled wine and food on the brown paper table-covering. When I unraveled my napkin, the cutlery inside was dirty. The house salad, arriving in one bowl for the whole table, is iceberg lettuce with some chickpeas, a disgusting dressing, and some pre-packaged shredded cheese thrown on top. I had the baked chicken penne. The pasta was undercooked, the sauce was revolting, and the chicken was dry as toast, and rather chewy. My fellow diners were similarly unimpressed with their meals. Even the iced tea was sub-par, tasting like watered-down off-brand powdered iced tea. It was very noisy, the lights and decorations were covered with dust and dirt, and our whole experience overall was very, very negative, especially since the awful meal came with a hefty price tag. The server tossed us some dollar-store suckers with the bill, and that was the best thing any of us had eaten all night.
We will probably come here again I'm sure but not in a very big hurry. Its similar to East Sides minus the unlimited salad/bread etc., and minus the kid friendly options. Service was lacking, they seemed too busy socializing with other staff then to make sure we had what we needed. Also, sitting us in a mostly empty restaurant in the worst spot in the winter, ie by the door that blows cold air in every time it opens wasn't nice.
Really good food, tasted fresh. Service was good as well.
I just hate restaurant that use italian name when they doesn't know what an italian restaurant really is! pizza was orrible, dough nothing to do with the italian ones, the tomato sauce was from the cans. i asked for a margherita and they brought me something that wasn't that. Classic american low quality style food, everything from frozen stuff, pasta overcooked and noisy atmosphere. the appetizer was average. if you want italian food don't go at johnny roccos because they doesn't know what italian is!
My wife and I tried Johnny Rocco's Tapas Night last Thursday. We ordered four different dishes from Tapas menu and to be honest I should say the foods were a bit of dice roll. Spicy Shrimp was crispy and very tasty with a sauce that came with and Penne Carbonara was good too. However, Calamari had no taste at all and, moreover, Messels had bad smell so we didn't finish them. But since the atmosphere was great and we enjoyed our time there I think we should try them again and see how other dishes are. It was great overall.
Lively, open kitchen. Good place to meet friends. Food is average, but good value. Salads served family style can tend to be submerged in house dressing
We enjoyed Johnny Rocco's! Even after friends of ours had a bad experience, we felt that we had to try it for ourselves. Our server was an amiable guy, and did a great job. I had pizza which was yummy, and my husband had veal, which he enjoyed. The meals were hot, delicious, and didn't seem to take too long to get to us - everything was just right. Great atmosphere, and an enjoyable evening out. We will be back.
We visited, based on other reviews. Excellent Italian dinners. Great atmosphere. Good service. Only a couple of miles west of the falls and out of the central tourist area. We'd definitely come back.
My girlfriends and I celebrated a birthday at Johnny Rocco's. We were all pleased with our experience, from our mouth-watering food to our smiling, on-the-ball server. It was a truly memorable evening, see you soon, Johnny!
i took my girlfriend to this restaurant because i had heard from some people that it was worth the trip. the atmosphere was pleasant but it took us a while for a server to stop by our table. she took our drink order and food order then didnt bring our drinks for quite some time. we were talking for a while not realizing how long our food was taking which was a while. when it finally did arrive the pizza was burnt and looked like they just cut some bits off the side of the pizza so that they could bring it out and wouldnt look so burnt. i didnt bother complaining about it and then my girlfriends meatball sandwich was cold. the server didnt bother to come bye and check and see how we were and didnt ask us if we would like any more drinks either and just dropped off the bill after we finished and we didnt see her at all after that. we left the money on our table and left. definately need to work on customer service alot more. definately will not return. consider hiring new staff if u want to stay in business for the long haul.
We had a party of 13, including 6 kids that are 9 and under. They invited the kids up to the pizza bar to make dough into any shape they wanted, baked it, then presented it shortly after receiving our entrees. The server, Heather, was fantastic, particularly since we were a large party with 4 separate checks. The pizza was very good and everyone enjoyed their entrees. Kids meals come with a dessert of 3 little ice cream cones, which they loved of course. My mom, a first generation Italian, was thrilled with the restaurant. Johnny Rocco's is now my daughter's new favorite restaurant. Too bad we live in Ohio.
My girlfriend had visited this restaurant with her friends on a Thursday night and found the food and the atmosphere to be really welcoming. So we decided to go there on Sunday evening for dinner. The hostess at the door were really welcoming and immediately took us to an booth in front of the pizza bar. Our server stooped by our table and welcomed us again to the place and wrote down her name on the table. We placed our drink order with her and to my surprise the drinks were served with in the next 4 min. The food we ordered all came on time and was just delicious. the portion size for the amount of charges were amazing. The manager and the server stopped by our table a couple times for the quality check. The server was really friendly and had an good sense of humor.....i cant remember her name at this time. over all an very good experience and would definitely visit again with my family and friends.
I just have to say that my boyfriend and myself loved our server! Lisa was amazing and the nicest and funniest server I have ever had. She recommended the Ravioli, which I had, and it was incredible! Be seeing you soon!!
My wife and I had friends visiting from out of town and we wanted to take them out for dinner. A colleague had recommended Johnny Rocco's so we thought we would give it a whirl. We were greeted at the door by two very friendly hostesses and were lead to a nice booth in front of the pizza oven. So far, so good. Our food was pretty good, we were impressed with the large portions, the wood fired pizza oven and my wife was RAVING over the caesar salad. The service however, was quite slow and somewhat sloppy. Our server Kelly came over right away and introduced herself by writing her name on the table (which we thought was quite nice) she took our drink order and said she would be right back. About 5 minutes later she delivered the drinks, but forgot to bring my wife's water. She apologized, took our food order and said she would be back with the water. Another server came over and brought the two salads and soup, all the while still waiting for my wife's water. We noticed at the next table over, the couple was offered fresh parmesan cheese and pepper with their salad but we were not. A little disappointing because who doesn't love fresh parmesan cheese and pepper... as the server was walking by our table we stopped and asked her if we could have some... still waiting for Kelly to bring the water. Kelly finally comes back to clear our salad and soup and we asked her once again for some water. She apologized again and FINALLY brought some water. Our appetizers came and went the only complaint would be that when we wanted some lemon for the calamari, there was noone around, no quality check... Our entrees came, and the server just kind of plopped the plates down in front of us and quickly ran away, she was clearly too busy to ask us if we needed anything else. Our drinks were left empty and it wasn't until we stopped a random server passing by to ask her for more drinks that we got refills. We thought it was nice that she was so quick and polite about getting us drinks even though she wasn't our server. The food tasted great, the wood fired oven makes a spectacular pizza. The portions were HUGE and for the price you can't beat it. My friend did ask for penne pasta instead of spaghetti with his Veal however he still got spaghetti and was still charged $1.99 for the penne. Again, no quality check so he ate the spaghetti anyways. Overall I would say the restaurant has a great concept going, we noticed the kids were offered pizza dough to keep them busy while they waited for the meals, the crayons and paper on the table was also quite entertaining. The only recommendation I have is to keep an eye on quality of service. We might come back to try the tapas night and have a few cocktails.
we stopped by Johnny Rocco's and thought it was a dream come true for niagara falls. we enjoyed the atmosphere, the dining experience, the food was homemade and it came out in the taste and quality. the portions were out of this world!!!!!!!! our server kelly was amazing and very friendly. its hard to find servers now a days this outgoing. she was infromative about the dishes and very descriptive about the different items we were askign about. she even told us about tapas so we will definatly be back to try those!!!!!!!!!! anyone looking for a good resturant definatly check this one out!!!!!
I couldn't believe hpw busy this restarant was for a tapas night. We usually go to St Catherines for tapas but decided to try Johnny Roccos insteasd. Food and service was incredible. The place rocks. Will be back every Thusday.
We had the best Italian food in the City. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. The service was excellent (Judy). You will see me more often. Ciao
