Excellent food. Horrible wait time for takeout especially during special occasions. We ordered our food one hour ahead and still had to wait another 45 minutes to get the food. We would have left but our guests were from out of town and we didn't have another option so late. There were many others also waiting and it was total chaos with staff. I'm going to look for other Indian restaurants. It was a negative experience for us.
My favorite indian food ever!! Its home made by a beautiful, friendly family. Tastes amazing!
Having had past bad experiences with Indian food I was somewhat reluctant to try again, but gave it the old college try. In fact, my old mantra was, "the best indian food is worse than the worse chinese food on the market". I found this to be an absolute delightful experience from the get go. The woman who waited on us was very attentive and made recommendations and even the cook came out to speak to us to double check that our meal was satisficatory. It was beyond expectations. The atmosphere was clean and bright and all the patrons in this small establishment left happy and content. My only concern is that I live 2 and a half hours aways and only get to Ottawa every few months. What a gem. If you are looking for high quality Indian food, head over to Little Indian.
I've been here a couple times. I've been to the lunch buffet which is amazing and also for supper. I took my boyfriend here because its sooo good. My favourite food is Indian and his is Chinese. When we were eating together we were in food heaven and I asked him if Chinese food is his favourite now? and he said this is way better than Chinese! The Naan is great, you can even get it with your buffet - everything is soo tasty. My friend first took me here 8 or 9 years ago and it was my first time trying indian food and now im hooked to Little India Cafe. I'm glad that they renovated recently it needed an update. Oh yes and the service is good too friendly people :)
This is the ABSOLUTE best restaurant in the CITY....by far....the best Indian food....BY FAR.... I can not wait to go again...THE VEGETARIAN FOOD is so so so incredible!!!! I have been vegetarian for 40 years, eaten all over the world, and actually even own the PEACE-GARDEN in the Byward Market. I know what amazing food is...We bring everyone from out of town here we can...for the best treat we can possibly offer them!!!!
Absolutely terrible. What are these people giving excellent reviews comparing this place to, I haven't the slightest idea. The naan was undercooked and chewy, the butter chicken was totally tasteless, and nothing was even close to being rated as " not bad". The service was friendly and polite, but that was about it. I've eaten Indian food in countless restaurants across Canada, as well as home made Indian in people's personal kitchens, so trust me when I say don't even bother with this place.
Heaven on Earth should sum it up!! Dear God! The food is truly to die for! The butter chicken, the Chicken Tikka Masala, Malai Kofta, Naan, Haryali Kabab, ...!! They should open more restaurants all over Canada!! We need this quality of food everywhere!
THIS IS THE BEST INDIAN FOOD IN OTTAWA. A little hole in the wall, to be sure, but the food is SO worth it. If you're a Naan bread fan like me, you'll CRAVE their garlic/cilantro naan bread....it's to die for, and there is no other bread in the city like it. Go...you will not be disappointed!
My husband and I have been patrons of this restaurant for years. We have gone for dinner wherein we would order and share the orders among us, and we have gone for the lunch buffet and sunday lunch buffet. The best time to arrive is usually noon. Though, I must add it is open until two for the buffet. We are always pleased with Rom's food. It is freshly made for you in the evening and even during the buffet, your naan is freshly done for you from the tandoor oven. Small kitchen but huge flavour. As for meat ingredients: Always there is tandoor chicken and butter chicken as mainstays on the buffet. They change the kormas and other things from lamb to beef to vegetable and maybe all three at times. This has never changed all the time that we have gone and their quality is consistently great. Best curry that we know of in town! Happy Diwali to Rom and his staff.
Even though it's a tiny restaurant, kinda like a hole in the wall, the food that comes out of that kitchen is out of this world. Everything tastes superior, and it is a great treat for anyone who wants to discover Indian food at its best. I have family members who are picky eaters who love this place. The taste is just so good and rich, it is well worth every penny. I suggest with larger parties to reserve in advance, or take advantage of the take out. Suffice to say, if you like Indian food - YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
I have been to Little India many times and I find the food is excellent and the taste always constant.
Well it is the measure for all Indian food in Ottawa. In fact it is the best Indian food I have ever tasted. Period. It is a small place and they really need to renovate the bathroom. However, who cares... the food is simply incredible.
Great selection and very tasty dishes...butter chicken amazing and the Naan bread was awesome....
Used to love this place and went there for lunch a lot, but it has now gone severely downhill. Don't know about dinner, but I found the buffet bland and dry. They really seem to be cutting costs big time (more potato than meat nowadays). Not that there's a lot of good choices for Indian in Ottawa. :(
I have tried EVERY Indian restaurant in the city. This place is #1 - hands down. Too bad the last reviewer made an error in giving the place all 1's instead of 10's.. the rating would be 9+.
This Restaurant should be a chain for Indian Restaurants, so that everyone in Canada could enjoy this wonderful food. The Butter Chicken is incredible.
The best for Indian food in Ottawa! Best to make reservations for peak periods. It is a small place and food is made fresh to order, so be prepared to wait - but it?s absolutely worth it! While waiting they give some crunchy and interesting bread (can't remember what it's called) with a delicious dip. The servers are very ingratiating! Perfect 10!
Really good food! I have been there many times and the quality is always very high. You have to get there early for the lunch buffet because the place fills up very quickly. The waitresses are quick with the water (which is appreciated for the spicy food!) and they bring naan bread often.
Excellent food. I didn't eat there but had a take out. Go there all the time. Can be a liitle busy on saturday night. But food is always worth it.

North Indian cuisine is a creamier and more well-known regional variation that often incorporates tandoor-cooked meats and naan bread, lamb, and spices like cumin, cardamom and saffron. Little India Café offers an authentic North Indian dining experience with a décor inspired by landmarks of the region, including the awe-inspiring Taj Mahal. Chef Ram Chander excels in everything he does, but the chicken dishes – butter, korma and tikka – are customer favourites.
