Thee most friendly pub in Ottawa. People always introduce themselves and the bartenders are very generous. they really know how to pour drinks. Great prices.
Rumor had it this pub had the best fish and chips in Ottawa so two of us checked it out; another co-worker tagged along for lunch. As it turned out our experience left alot to be desired. First - the service. The lady behind the bar was extremely inattentive and seemed more interested in socializing than doing her job. It took forever to get served for both our food order and drinks - twice we had to leave our tables and order from the bar. In addition to the lousy service, the food was terrible and it seemed to take forever to get our orders. Though the fish's batter was crisp on the outside, the interior was mushy and the fish undercooked. Our co worker ordered the nachos, which came burnt, sparsely topped and to be quite frank were rather tasteless. To quote him, it was the worst nachos he's ever had. We will never return and we intend to advise our friends and coworkers to do the same; from now on we'll stick to other pubs in the area.
Superb homemade food - beats run of the mill "chain-pub" fare hands-down; also has a decent selection of beer on tap for a tiny pub.
I own a restaurant myself. The number one rule as I remmember, is the the customer is alway's first. Now the service from the bar was outstanding, nice, warming, polite, but most of all, understanding of the problem's in the kicthen. I'll explain later. All I wanted was a pizza. seems easy enough, you'd think. But as I placed my order with the server, and tried to enjoy my drink untill my order arrived. All I could hear was a female cook, and i'm not joking, kick and scream,yelling, complaining, and almost crying,about making my meal.Trust me i'm sure I was'nt the only to hear this. I had asked the server what the problem may have been, she replied to me that, our head-chef hate's to make a thin crust pizza. I could not belive,what I had just heard. I'm not the head-chef at my restaurant, but I can bet you that my head-chef would not and I mean NOT, throw a BABY FIT in the middle of a shift over a thin crust pizza. How embarrasing this was for myself and my partner not to mention the problems with his food, I think i've spent enough time on my issue, plus, there not enough room for his problem's on this page. One advice to the owner/owner's. If I was you, Find a new Head-Chef, real soon, and just maybe I'll come back.
