Absurdly rude young waitress girl, terrible service. 0/10 DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT GOOD FOOD.
I went here based on the reviews but found that the pho was only average and in the case of my spring rolls, almost inedible. The spring rolls I was served were SO greasy. I tried to soak some of it up with napkins but it didn't help much as they were greasy all the way through. The next day I reheated one in the microwave and there was a pool of grease left on the plate. I know these things are deep fried but come on, this was just wrong.
I was expecting great food for a great price. So many good reviews. A bit disappointed. The spring rolls were mediocre...just a tad greasy. The fillings could improve in flavour. Two shrimp spring rolls for $4.50. Two chicken spring rolls for $3.99. Salad rolls with just plain steamed chicken for $5.75. A vermicelli bowl for $10.50 because I subbed the shrimp for pork spring rolls. A medium sized Pho for $8.50. A small bowl of rice for $2.00. The grilled chicken was pretty good, but it was a small serving of it in my vermicelli bowl. My husband said the broth in the pho was good, and was given a lot of beef balls in #33. Would I go again? Maybe just to try their house specials, and the fast service
I have never been disappointed by this place. It might not be an architectural wonder with spa atmosphere, but I don't care! The salad rolls use thai basil which gives them a beautiful sophisticated flavor. The soup broth is very well balanced with garlic, ginger, anise and lemon grass.
O.K. So this may seem a tad biased and that is only because this is THE BEST PHO & SPRING ROLLS IN TOWN! I know this for a fact because not only have I been frequenting it since I was brought there by a friend 13 or so years ago but I also have lived in Hintonburg/Lil' Italy/ Chinatown for 28 years and NOTHING has made me feel so welcome and satisfied as this establishment. The new TV's are fantastic, the music is always great. The beer is perfectly priced so you can enjoy a hockey game with a bowl of pho, a few brewskies and many orders of spring rolls and still not break the bank like a sports bar (nor have all that backed up cheese or wings feeling the next day). Also the staff is super kind and friendly, always willing to make sure your order is correct. I love this place for dates, family gatherings, group parties and even helping out with fighting the common cold (I order that to be picked up for me tho). In closing if you haven't been GO! If you have, see ya next time. P.S. I recommend the veg spring rolls with a Egg noodle bowl with assorted sea food and BBQ pork, also with no onions is fantastic cause I hate onions and they dont mind obliging me :) If you are still reading this then go go go and eat this awesome food!
you should try everything here, it just taste so good and consistent, the food here is so much better than chinatown that it should\ve been located there! i love the creme caramel and deep fried banana. it is so exotic! the price is perfect also which allows me to leave a good amount of tip for the servers...in the end it the service here here is great so i suggest everybody to eat here before they assume that the best pho is located in chinatown
The food was amazing, the servers are very nice, especially Khanh, a hardcore pho connoisseur and Vietnam war veteran. He made sure my pho was not pholated and garnished the way Nam like it, no lemons. I really enjoyed the music and the atmosphere because some of my favorite songs are extended to 8 minutes, which makes you feel at home and extra Vietnamese! If your lucky you may catch a glimpse of Minh Tuyet, who occasionally visits the Spring Roll House.
Went for the first time last week and this place is very good. You can taste the freshness in the food. The spring rolls are amazing. I highly recommend this place.
I've had many different items off the menu, but the lemongrass chicken on vermicelli and the egg and rice noodle soup with pork and shrimp are probably the two best. Having tried many different Vietnamese restaurants in Ottawa, the flavour and quality of the food at Springroll House keeps bringing me back. There is no other place like it.
Wow, the spring rolls are amazing. And the meals are a big portion, so you are definitely full when you leave.. The staff are very courteous.
FANTASTIC. GREATEST PORK SPRING ROLL EVER. THEIR SOUPS ARE AWESOME. THE STAFF ( TOM) IS SO FRIENDLY. YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE.
Excellent service everytime we go. We allways go for the soup and it's a hit everytime.
