Good food but way too expensive
Great restaurant, fresh food is always a welcome departure from premade, pre-frozen, precooked like all the big chain restaurants. Owners and staff who really care about their guests. It is pleasantly refreshing in this day and age of absent owners! Keep up the great work folks, I will be back!!!
Over Priced. I still don't understand how breakfast for 2 cost 36 dollars. Bacon, eggs, hashbrown, toast, coffee & waffles. 36 dollars. This should of been a $20 meal tops. Eaters beware.
I don't know why I ever came back here. The food itself is fine, but it's over priced and it's about 50/50 they get my order wrong. I ordered a strawberry waffle with whipped cream and requested the strawberry and whipped cream on the side. The waffle came with everything on it insuring it was sogy and the whipped cream half melted by the time it got to me. And they are always super skimpy with the topping despite having to pay extra for it. So not worth coming here.
I went to Smitty's for the first time with a friend who treated me there. I thought the roast beef sandwich was good but there was something about the taste of the meat that turned me off slightly, and there seemed to be an awful lot of fat in the 'juice'. The fries were like shoe string-type fries (not my favourite but ok). My friend's meal looked good except her chicken looked a bit dark/overcooked. She said it was good, though. I felt the atmosphere to be a bit homey, sort of nostalgic feel. I would go back but maybe for breakfast instead of another dinner.
This place must be hit or miss. I've been once, went for a family late lunch on a weekend. The hostesses ignored us, and my dad got fed up and just walked in and sat down. The menu was extensive, and I love an all day breakfast! I got a western omelette with homefires and bacon and toast and what seemed like endless other side dishes. My dad also got some crazy huge breakfast meal. My mom and bro both ordered from the lunch menu, and both got what appeared to be kiddie sized meals. Felt pretty badly that my brother went hungry while I had way too much food (He ate my toast and homefries, I don't feel that badly). Took an extremely long time for the waitstaff to bring our bill, prices were ok...worth the breakfast meals for sure. I might try it again, might not. Not really sure if the is an improvement from the old East Side Mario's or not.
What a great restaurant! Friendly appreciative staff, quick service, and best coffee! We had breakfast special, for 5.99 great deal. Love the restaurant, don't understand a small percentage of people had a bad experience there. They must be very unreasonable customers. Go back in a heartbeat! Great job to the team!!!!
Took my mom out for lunch on a Thursday afternoon at approximately 2pm. Needless to say, it wasn't very busy. Both of us ordered wraps and fries. Not a very difficult order. We weren't expecting it to take long. 25 minutes later... If we weren't so hungry we would have walked out. Thank goodness the food itself was very good. When it came time to pay we couldn't find anyone to come and clear our plates and get us the bill. One gentleman almost walked out as he was waiting to pay his bill. Good food but not worth the wait.
I’ve been to this location a number of times throughout the years. If I’m looking for a huge delicious breakfast, I will come to Smitty’s for a “Colossal Omelette” (omelette with ham, cheese, tomato and onion, with home fries, bacon and toast). I’ve never been disappointment by the food. My Fiancé loves that they leave a thermos filled with coffee on the table. The service is just as good as the pancakes, which are great! Sunday mornings are busy but the restaurant is large and the wait time is short. I don’t count calories when I come to a place like this, but I recently came here with someone who has cardiac problems, and he ordered a “Healthy Harvest Omelette”… and to his dismay his “healthy” omelette came on top of a pile of deep fried home fries (which in my opinion are fantastic). So overall, Smittys is delicious and my only critique for their menu is to add a couple healthier options.
I went there for breakfast. It was really a nice environment at all. It was blah and the server wasnt friendly or hostess. The food took forever. The drinks were so watered down. We didnt feel welcomed at all. I wasnt happy neither was my ex we just sat there waiting and hmmmmed and hawwwwed and the food was OVER PRICED I AM NEVER GOING TO COME BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!
what a value for your $! The breakie special is 5.99, that includes unlimited coffee. Fresh, hot and fantastic service! The new owners are doing a great job. Highly reccomend. Kids also eat free after 4 pm everyday, can't go wrong with that!
Went into Smitty's on Mothers Day, I thought it would be a huge wait in line and for food. It is the busiest day of the year for restaurants. I was incredibly impressed with the quality of food, and the speed of service. Anyone complains about poor service on the busiest day of the year needs their head read, seriously ! To expect fast food drive through service on Mother's Day is totally unreasonable. I have been coming to Smitty's my entire life, I will continue to recommend this great restaurant to all my friends, co-workers and family members. Keep up the great work Smitty's!!!!!!!!!!! AND THE BEST QUESADILLAS THIS SIDE OF MEXICO! THE COUPON FOR 7.50 OFF YOUR NEXT VISIT WAS A GREAT TOUCH, SO WAS THE FLOWERS! Great job guys...
I don't go to Smitty's often because it's quite expensive compared to the little breakfast diners in town, but we chose to go for Mother's Day this morning. Several tables who sat WELL after we did received there food well before we did. After 45 minutes, our server let us know that it was busy in the kitchen so they were just getting to our order now (the table of 4 who sat 1/2 an hour after we did was already finished eating). 3 of us at the table ordered items requiring syrup and none was brought to us. I had to ask for it and the server looked dumbfounded... not sure why syrup is so confusing! Two two females at the table were served last, on MOTHER'S DAY of all days. By the time our food got there, my mom was so hungry that she scarfed it down and never even tasted it. The server took my food away before I was finished. No, she didn't ask if I was done. Normally I'd have stopped her but not only did she snatch-and-run but my sprained ankle was cramping and I was rubbing it so I didn't actually see her take it until she was carting it off. As my brother was cutting up his food to take a bite she asked him if he was done eating and was fully prepared to take his plate.... apparently the eating motions don't actually mean that you're eating? She took my dad's food without asking... he probably was actually done eating, but how hard is it to ask just to make sure? And lastly, at the end, she brought a flower for my mom as their mother's day "gift". I guess she assumed I'm not a mother? I'm not a mom (thankfully or else I'd have been pretty offended!) but I'm in my mid twenties. Most of my friends are married with children so it's not like I'm "too young". All in all just very horrible service... I really have NO idea what thought-process our server was using! Needless to say, she didn't get a tip!
