Went there with my Father and hubby for breakfast. Father wanted his toast well done, came back like warmed bread, after him saying I would like it well done about 5 different times. My eggs were not scrambled more like an omelet..hubby wanted pancakes, bacon and toast, which he got, but got charged for the 3 pancake special..and only recived pieces of bacon. Could of received 6 for that price
I found the fish very greasy and the fries under cooked. I was very disappointed. The service however was great.
itake my mother and friends at least twice a year to her friends cottage near Perth. it is 2 hours from Niagara almost to the second, and it is at a perfect place to rest and enjoy their fare. Always delicious, and they have the BEST lemonde! Above all else are the wait staff gals, Rachel, Maureen(Mo) and the wonderful older gal, who name escapes me but not her skills at doing her job with professional attitude...i will continue to stop there, because those three gals are, the best!
This is the best fish and chips I have had in a very long time the store is spotless and the girls that good are not teens they made are stay a very pleasant one and cannot wait to go back again and by the way if you are up there like me the music is just what the doctor ordered old time rock and roll enjoy people I know you will
I have to agree with others. They are alway mopping the floor here while you are eating. And floor mopping should be done AFTER the place is closed and it is not rude to go to a restaurant before closing time! There are much better fish and chips in town.
The food here use to be ok but has gone down hill. With 2 other fish and chip places in town the only reason to go here is if you want a beer or (bad) glass of wine with dinner as the other 2 place are not licenced. The atmosphere is terrible. The inside is all ceramic tiles like a washroom and someone is always mopping the floor. And what happened to the batter...and the fish is getting smaller!
My mom suggested this restaurant, as she has driven by it many times and had always wanted to check it out. We both had the halibut, and it was excellent! Not greasy at all, and perfectly cooked. We had the sweetest waitress too, service was great. I highly recommend if you want to eat some great halibut!
Me and my wife went there and tried it out because i love the Halibut House in Peterborough. Everything in this Location are the same, Friendly services the girls are always there too service you with a welcome smile. food was great, we both enjoyed our meal.
The Halibut House has new owners since July 28th/07 The atmosphere was "just like home" The service was more than I expected, the girls were friendly and eager to cater to your every need As far as the food goes, I find it is the best fish I have ever tasted Definitely a MUST to try!
It was one of the worst restaurants we have ever been to. NOT RECORMENTED TO ANYONE! The service was terrible. The fish was dry, salad was old.
Very yummy Fish and Chips. Beer a bit skunky. Patio was very nice and roomy. Service a bit slow as we were the only table on patio but friendly.
Very satisfied with everything. It's a place you should make sure to stop at when in Port Perry. The best I've ever had, very accomadating to your needs, fast and excellent service.A very friendly environment.
The best fish and chips place we have ever been to. Better then an English pub, seriously. Thick and crispy batter, high quality halibut and great family atmosphere. My vegetarian girlfriend makes an exception for this place.
Best Fish and Chip place I know and we eat out a lot. Batter lite and excellent white/tender fish never over cooked. Hard to get in there in summer.
Have eaten here a few times while visiting family in Uxbridge. The food is always great Not greasy! The fish is in a light crispy batter and is out of this world. I order the fish alone, no fries, as the fish is so good I don't want to fill up on fries. The battered mushrooms and dip are also out of this world! Definitely a NOT TO MISS Restaurant.
I totally don't agree with the review below. It was the best fish and chips I've ever had. The batter very light and crispy, not greasy at all. Phenomenal fish. The service was quick and great, the restaurant very cozy and clean. My whole party had a very nice experience. I'll for sure go back. You just can't get enough of it.
This is by far the best fish and chips I've had. We eat here on a fairly regular basis and it's rare not to be good. That said, I have had some (couple of times) less than great fish from here ? a little dried out or tuff, but that is rare. Usually it's very good. But if grease offends you then stay away. The fries are always good, and of course you need to cover them in lots of gravy. Great coleslaw too. It is somewhat expensive for the halibut, but that's because halibuts expensive I suppose. A 4 fish and 2 fries dinner cost about 30 bucks and will feed a family of 4.
This place is seriously overrated by three of the previous reviewers. The fish was dry, the chips were mediocre and the battered mushrooms were hard balls of greasy batter. The service was very quick with the food, probably because it had sat in a warming tray waiting for us. Getting the bill was another story. The only waitress was very busy, it was fairly crowded but who knows why? The price was high for what we got. We won't be going there again.
I've had fresher tasting Fish and Chips out of a box from No Frill's. Maybe we caught them on the tail end of a old shipment of fish but by the time you worked through the extremely greasy batter you came across a piece of dried out material that even a FBI forensic scientist would have trouble identifing. Never again, thank God for Tums.
I was so disappointed when I asked to have a half portion of fish and chips and they refused! Then, I asked for a ceasar salad instead of house salad and they said I would have to pay the full price for a ceasar salad because they don't substitute! When it first opened it was hopping but now very few people go there.
