The little coffee shop that could! Arvo, located in Distillery Historic District, is a small café and occasional flower shop that has a small, but purposeful front patio. People watch with your brew in hand from your perch on the bistro-style tables on Gristmill Lane.
Sharing space with a flower shop, this Distillery District café is charming and fits in with the whole cobblestone vibe of the area – the interior is a rustic, chic open space with exposed brick. Arvo uses Calgary roasters Phil and Sebastian and makes the cutest hot cocoa for kids called Babyccino (it comes in a tiny cup), which you can get with a mini croissant. Check out the seasonal signature drinks like the Hot Date Latte, a soothing mix of pitted dates, spiced ginger and cinnamon. There’s also coffee tastings and music nights here – check Arvo’s social media for dates.
Arvo’s patio is a four seater, its small size doesn’t mean it’s any less worthy than the other contenders on the list. In fact, it’s actually part of the charm. Grab a cup of Silverton pour-over brew (think French Press/Chemex fusion) and take a seat at Distillery’s smallest, yet trendiest patio.
