In their early twenties and living in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Jeremy Smith and Erin Schwanz wanted to start their own business. One very important thing was missing: a winning idea. In the meantime, Jeremy was working as a professional sign painter, while Erin completed her degree in English.
Erin had always wanted to open a candy store, and soon the two began pooling their ideas and talents to create a sweet shop like no other. In 2001, they opened the very first Freak Lunchbox, a candy lover's paradise that would be such a hit, they'd open stores in other cities, land plenty of local and national media coverage, and even attract a celebrity clientele.
In December 2012, Freak Lunchbox sweetened up Saint-Laurent Boulevard with its first store in Montreal.
This Canada-wide candy shop is true to its name. Here you’ll find some of the oddest candy items ever, as well as some great retro treats like Sugar Babies, Moon Pies, and Flavor Fusers. It’s a candy-lover’s dream – especially if that candy lover is an 80’s child.
