Almost everyone likes chocolate, but if all you’ve ever had are the sugar-loaded candy bars from convenience stores, then you’re seriously missing out. At Divine Chocolatier in downtown Montreal, store owner Richard Zwierzynski makes artisanal chocolates with only the finest cocoa beans.

Richard didn’t go to school or study under anyone to learn his craft. He learned the ropes working for a big company in Montreal for 16 years doing mass production. But he was never impressed with the quality of what he made and wanted to strike out on his own. “I was always fascinated with chocolate for I don’t know what reason,” Richard recalls. “I wanted to do something on my own here, more artisanal, small, highest quality, and provide good service for people who want that kind of relationship with a chocolatier, which is difficult to find these days.”
