Lesters AAA Delicatessen & Smoked Meat welcomes you to their restaurant. You can also enjoy the sun on their terrace. They are open after-hours from Monday to Friday. You can have your meal simply delivered at home.
One of the most famous names in Montreal smoked meat, Lester’s Deli has been in business since 1951. The retro diner interior and bright, street-side seating provides excellent summer and winter options for sitting back and enjoying the best sandwiches in the city.
Owner Billy Lester’s father was part of the starting business in 1951. He had come to Canada from war torn Poland and went into the food industry on the basis that at least he’d always have something to eat. The original owners were less than successful and Lester senior took over the restaurant in 1956. It was his dedication to customer service that Billy credits with the early business successes. “It was his credo, the tenant he lived by,” Billy explains. “The customer comes first, period.”
Lester’s has been using the same tested and true family recipe for their spectacular smoked meat sandwich for over 60 years. The sandwiches are nice, thick and juicy and taste great with the greasy French fries that Lester’s also serves. At Lester’s, you can also pick up smoked meat to go at their deli counter. As an added bonus, you’ll usually be able to find a seat in the restaurant right away.
Longtime Montreal restaurateur Dave McMillan knows the city's food scene like few others. We asked him for his top lunch picks and he came back with this great list that will have you covered the next time a friend or colleague asks, "Where should we go for lunch?"
