It can be difficult to find your niche when opening a bar on Whyte Avenue because there are so many nightlife choices for bar-goers. The Buckingham has done it by being inclusive, eclectic and a little bit silly. “On a street like Whyte, you’re in such close proximity to other bars. There is a bit of a cannibalistic atmosphere,” says Ben Sir, one of the bar’s owners. “People are focused on what everyone else is doing but, for us, we just put our head down and do what we do. I just want to focus on making sure when people come here they’re having fun and they see we don’t take ourselves particularly seriously.”
That lack of pretension has been the key to their success. When coming up with an identity for The Buckingham, known as The Buck to the regulars, the owners used their own personality as the business model. “As far as I’m concerned, we’re just a bunch of jackasses that somebody thought it wise to let run a bar and we found out we had a knack for it,” says Ben. “The biggest thing is we’re nice. I don’t care what you’re into, but if you’re a nice person, we want to get to know you and we want you to have fun here.”
Buffalo Wings
Buffalo wings just the way you remember thembut without harming any buffaloes. Choose from hot, BBQ, cajun, sweet chili heat, agave sriracha, salt n pepper or teriyaki. Comes with house-made ranch and fresh veggies.
Chips N Dips*
House-made tortilla chips with two bowls of dip. Choose from: pico de gallo, guacamole or queso.
Nachos
Start with the house-made tortilla chips. Add cheddar, mozza, refried beans, jalapeños, diced onion, olives and diced tomato. Then choose two dips: queso, salsa verde, red salsa, pico de gallo, sour cream (regular or chipotle) or guacamole.
Deep Fried Pickles
Pickle spears, breaded and deep fried until golden brown. Comes with house-made ranch dressing.
Corndog and Fries
Sailin Ons world famous corndog, hand battered and cooked to perfection. Comes with a side of fries.
Nacho Bean Dip
Refried beans, seasoned ground round, queso, salsa, sour cream, jalapeno, and green onion. Served hot with house-made tortilla chips.
Burrito
Refried beans, rice, cheddar, cilantro, cabbage, tomato, onion, all in a large, flour tortilla. Topped with chipotle sour cream and pico de gallo.
Spicy Chicken Tacos
Spicy pulled chicken, refried beans, cheddar, tomato, onion, cabbage, cilantro, on corn tortillas. Topped with salsa verde and chipotle sour cream.
Beef Tacos
Seasoned ground round, cheddar, tomato, onion, iceberg lettuce, on corn tortillas. Topped with salsa and sour cream.
Fish Tacos
Beer-battered fish fillet, mozza, avocado, pickled cabbage, cilantro. Topped with chipotle mayo.
Fried Avocado Tacos
Fried avocado, refried beans, cheddar, iceberg, and pickled onion on corn tortillas. Topped with pico de gallo and chipotle sour cream.
Chicken N Waffles
Southern-style fried chicken on top of fresh Belgian waffles drizzled with sweet n spicy chicken au jus. Served with butter and maple syrup.

BBQ Bacn Cheeseburger
House-made roasted beet patty, cheddar, coconut bacn, BBQ sauce, ranch dressing, tomato, romaine, red onion on a toasted burger bun.

Slow roasted pulled veg, southern slaw, BBQ sauce packed in a toasted bun.

Savoury meatballs in marinara sauce, green pepper, red onion, cheddar, mozza, parmesan, and basil on a fresh Portuguese bun.
Turkey Sandwich
Slow-roasted and thinly-sliced turkey, cranberry sauce, coconut bacn, rosemary mayo, iceberg lettuce, salt n pepper between two slices of toasted French bread.
Fish Sandwich
Beer-battered fish filets, cheddar, slaw, red onion, pickles, tartar sauce, on a toasted burger bun.
