Drivers heading for Vancouver on King George Highway know this White Rock coffee spot and many of them will stop their morning commute to pick up a great cup of coffee made from hand-roasted beans. Holy Smoke Coffee stands out with its original tepee-shaped building and embodies what coffee used to be before the reign of the large chains.
“This is done like it was done in the old days when every town had its local coffee roaster,” says owner Al Nemeth. “I work with a very basic machine that has been used for centuries and the technique is called drum roasting. I take it out of the roaster myself.”
