FortKnight Boutique as a hub for men's style in Canada. Not fashion, but style. Through old time customer service and advice, FortKnight's mission is to help you become a better man.
“It’s authentic and genuine,” says Tyler Johnstone, owner of Fortknight Men’s Boutique. “It’s just a real place for guys to come and chat and hang out and check out the things that they’re interested in.”
Offering a wide selection of products ranging from high-end guitars to ties, cufflinks and whisky tumblers, as well as shaves and haircuts in the shop’s three vintage barber’s chairs, Tyler sees Fortknight Men’s Boutique as a haven for the well-dressed, high-minded man.
“We cater to guys who appreciate the finer things in life and care about their appearance,” Tyler says, “but it’s also just a relaxed place to come in, hang out and shoot the breeze with the guys.” Helping men feel comfortable and stylish is what Fortknight Men’s Boutique does best, and Tyler is proud to run the store and help the men of Gastown find the products and services they need.
The barbershop used to be a place where people hung out. It was a community of like-minded men with something in common beyond the guy who cut their hair. If that tradition seems like a rarity these days, it’s because you haven’t been to FortKnight’s Men’s Boutique. Packed with happy gentlemen who love the shop’s laidback atmosphere, it’s a great place to get a hot shave and a few laughs.
Gastown seems to be Vancouver’s unofficial hub for modern-day barbershops but this authentic gentlemen’s boutique is definitely one of a kind. The hybrid shop and salon carries a curated selection of locally produced shaving products alongside imported fountain pens, crystal whiskey decanters, colourful bow ties and fine leather goods. On the styling side of things, pro barbers Chris Vincent, Rocco Bates and Alex Duerst are known for their steady hands and close shaves. Hot towel shaves ($35) and beard trims ($10) are a genuine and enjoyable experience here, and they might even come with a glass of scotch.
Dedicated to all things manly when it comes to style, Fortknight is a full-service boutique selling everything from whisky rocks to grooming products. They even have an on-site barber offering straight-razor hot shaves if you’re ready for a clean face. The tie collection here is of the bow variety — adorable little neck accessories in plain bright colours, two-tone plaids, even silk black ties with a brightly coloured underside, perfect for the modern Tom Ford tuxedo. Here, men, they have all your sartorial needs taken care of.
