Wondering where to spend your Bitcoin in Vancouver? "I believe we are the only wine store in Canada to accept bitcoin," says Michael Romand, owner of the Okanagan Estate Wine Shop. While he doesn't see a lot of the online currency in the store right now, he believes that will change once Vancouverites embrace wine ordered over the Internet and delivered to their door.
Okanagan Estate Wine Shop specializes in B.C. wines and cheeses. With the oldest private wine store licence in the province, the shop opened in 1983 and has been at its current location since 2002. "We have the best prices on B.C. wines," says Michael. "We buy direct from the wineries without the need to go through the government liquor store."
Positioning itself as a "one stop shop" for wine lovers, Okanagan Estate Wine Shop also sells cheeses from Salt Spring Island and the interior of British Columbia, in addition to its international line. Their well-stocked gift store has become a destination in its own right for discerning wine and cheese lovers.
