Do not buy Blundstones . Went to get a pair of Blundstones resoled , agreed to pay $120 and then was repeatedly insulted by the owner because I had purchased them from him over 10 years ago ! What !?? Makes no sense .He actually did me a favour because a quick internet search reveals these boots are no longer made in Aus.and the Australian Boot Co. says after a couple of years they wear out - sole disintegrates- and they cannot be resold .My wife had warned me he had been rude to her previously.

This is false, we went through our work orders and found nothing that resembled what this person Scott H claims regarding the time it took and the type of repair. And as for the comment about rude and unhelpful staff is laughable, in fact this is the first break we have had since you posted your review nearly 2 months ago to respond because we have been so busy! Those who spend time looking for the faults in others, usually spend no time to correct their own. 20 yrs in Bus should say enough

I brought 3 different shoes in for repair on a Sunday. (yes, they are open on Sunday!) One was a sandal with broken strap, another was a leather bootie with a scrape in the toe and the third was a brand new leather bootie (never worn) that showed some flaking of the color on side. I was told he was very busy so it may be more than a week. I got a call in 3 days and I was very impressed with the work! He also repaired a tear in the bootie I forgot about and all 3 repairs cost only $21!

    Dissapointed

Shortly after Christmas of 2011 my parents purchased me my first pair of Blundstones from The Shoe Doctor. In the middle of the 2013 winter my boots ripped along the inner left boot near the ball of my feet. I took them to the Shoe Doctor and he repaired them for a small fee and told me it was probably not worth it to deal with Blundstone directly for their warranty. I trusted his judgement. In early December of 2013 I was speaking to a friend who was shocked at the lack of aid I received from The Shoe Doctor. He told me the warranty was two years long and advised me to contact Blundstone immediately. I did so and they honoured the warranty and sent me a new pair. Unfortunately my feet had grown and the new pair was too small. I went to The Shoe Doctor in an attempt to exchange the pair that Blundstone sent me for a larger size. It seemed easier than contacting Blundstone again and waiting a few weeks for a new pair in the mail. I explained my story to the owner, Brian, and asked how much he would charge for an exchange. He told me that because I "dealt with Blundstone directly" there was "nothing" he could do. I repeatedly inquired as to why he could not help and he would not give me a straight answer. When I asked why he could not sell the pair I was offering his coworker, Caroline, said, "We don't keep extra pairs in stock." My mother was surprised by my lack of success and being a longtime customer decided to call them herself. When Brain figured out what she was talking about he put her on hold. Caroline picked up and told my mother that had I come in with my boots when the damage occurred I could have received a replacement pair from them. I was not offered a new pair of boots. Had the offer been made, I would have accepted. My family has bought eleven pair of shoes (and sandals) and we have had two pairs of shoes resoled. We are done with The Shoe Doctor.

You forgot to mention an important part of your review. You wrote this negative review mainly because you did not want to pay any shipping charges back to Blundstone (under $20.00) and wanted our store to absorb them. This was not very reasonable as you have already dealt with Blundstone directly. So please in future when writing a review for other stores include all the facts that lead to the review, so customers have a more accurate description!

    Ethical Business

The Shoe Doctor represents what it means to be a community minded, people-before-profit kind of business. It may sound kind of corny but I always leave there feeling like my purchase has made a difference, that in some way I've supported fair, honest labour. Owner, Brian Layte, also fixed my favorite sandals so I could wear them for another summer!

    Great Shoes & Service Too!

I have been a satisfied customer for over 10 years. The owner and staff are personable and relate well with us customers. I have had several pairs of shoes repaired over the years and the work has been excellent. Unfortunately, those of us receiving good service don't tend to write reviews; whereas, when I get bad service, I am quick to communicate my complaints. It is great to shop for shoes in a store where they don't rush you and they ensure the shoes fit well. I have recommended this store to all my colleagues who have had similar experiences as mine at the Shoe Doctor.

    Benefit of the the Doubt

I read the reviews on this company prior to contacting them. I work in a small business and know that word of mouth is crucial and that one bad experience for a customer can unfortunately taint future customer's view on the company whether or not the report is an accurate depiction of what happened. So I read the good review and the bad and the business's response to the poor report and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. When I called them to ask for prices on repairing my boots, the gentleman on the phone asked if I could bring the shoes to the phone so he could see them. I was confused by this question and didn't pick up on the sarcasm until I told him that he wouldn't be able to see the shoes and he sarcastically told me "exactly". I'm not sure why an inquiring new customer was treated so poorly, but perhaps they are too busy and don't need new customers so they don't think they need to treat customers properly. If that is the case, I would strongly recommend consumers to find a new company to repair their shoes as this business apparently doesn't have the time nor inclination to treat customers with kindness and respect.

Let's Rewind.... Phone Rings "Shoe Doctor" "Hi, Yes How much to fix my shoes?" "Can you bring the shoes close to the phone so I can have a good look at them?" big pause...."How am I suppose to do that?" "Exactly!" Judging by your comment after you clearly didn't find the humour (or even understand it), it was clear it was made by: 1)Someone who does not even live in this area! 2)Someone who has NOT even set foot inside the store but yet takes time to write a review about it! 3)Someone who does not take items in for repair as this is as silly as phoning a dentist for a quote! Every year The Winnipeg Comedy Festival comes to town and I am sure you would benefit to see a few shows....

Great Shoe Store Worth Checking Out!

We were referred to this store by a different shoe store because we were in the market for a pair of Blundstones. After trying on pretty much every style for almost an hour we walked out with 2 pairs...and love them! Great service and they surprisingly pack ALOT of shoes in this unique shop. They also repair shoes in the back. Warning-It is on Westminster Ave in Wolseley NOT on Wolseley.....we drove up and down Wolseley until we asked someone where it was.

Been going for years fixes almost everything...

Every year in the spring we drop off a pile of shoes, birks and other random stuff such as my purse for repair. They fix nearly everything that we bring in (except our tent that needed the zip fixed...way too costly) Been happy over the years but gave only 4 stars as we had to come back after a pair of shoes wasn't ready. They need more staff or something ,but will still continue to go there.

    Buyer beware

Took two pairs of men's shoes to be repaired. We were told they would be ready in a week. Went back over a week later they weren't ready. And were rudely asked "did you get a call to say they were done?" We hadn't, but since we are from out of town we took a chance. More than a week later got the call. Went to pick them up they gave us the wrong shoes and charged more than quoted for the repair. My daughter in law wisely called to complain and was told that they made a mistake and had given us the wrong shoes. Mens black dress shoes look very similar. So we got a call while we were sitting down to a nice restaurant meal, "can you come back, we gave you the wrong shoes". Ok done, went and got the right shoes and got a credit because it had been a less expensive repair on those shoes. (the female clerk was very nice and apologetic) First time wearing the shoes the heel falls right off and examining the other one it was about to do the same. Another trip back to the city. No apologies, no discount. Said he'd put in too short of nails. We saw no nails just glue. And even if he did put in the wrong nails, that's his business to know what length of nails you need to keep the heels on the shoe. Rude and walked away as my husband was still talking to him. No, we will not be back. Check the work before leaving the store.

I would like to respond to this review first by reminding you that there are 2 sides to every story. Yes we are a busy, well established shop, and this did occur when we were short staffed from staff taking holidays, so the shoes were probably not ready as they indicated. I was not made aware of some of the details until after this occurred as I was away for part of this also. So rather then comment about this customers behaviour in the store that caused myself to be "rude and walked away" I would say thousands of customers every year (and growing) would fully disagree with this review and I encourage this person(s) to find another shoe repair shop as there are many shops in this city that would love new customers!
