bad bad service with rude manner
dilivery and in-store service cant really say how the food is since i only gt one thing over the last decade. number 14, pork cha gio. its realy the best asian cheap food i have ever had. and i have been to asian. love it
I have been a regular since 2002. The food has always been good and I would attend this resaurant at least twice a week. This was across the street from the indian restaurant I used to work at. The #33 with shrimp was always my favorite but lately I prefere the special B red curry with chicken. The food there satified all my pregnancy cravings but drove my husband nuts as I would send him there a few time a week during both my pregnancies. My husband said if you like the food that much you should go to work there, so I did. Now I get to eat there food daily, and the lady that owns the restaurant. Nicest woman I ever met.
I was looking for some place new to try in Kingston, and this place let me down. Ordered the Sping rolls which were very greasy and had way to much onion in them. Pad Thai was not good compared to anywhere else I have ever ordered it. The sauce was too salty and tasted like it was poured from a bottle bought at the grocery store. I would not recommed this restaurant when there are so many other good asian restaurants in Kingston.
A great experience. Clean, great food, portions could be a tiny bit bigger, but, did I say, the food is Great. A must try if you like this type of food.
Golden Viet Thai used to be one of the best Thai spots downtown. I don't know if they've changed owners but it's gone down hill considerably over the past year. A month ago I gave it another chance and was disappointed. Their fresh spring rolls went from amazing to sad. The Pad Thai is still good but not what it used to be. Luckily the "free dessert" still rocks our socks.
I gave this place another chance. The veggie dishes had tons of bland white rice, hardly any veggies or tofu and almost no sauce. It was dry and tasteless. Everyone was disappointed. the soup was a hit because it was hot and spicy and crunchy. I won't be back...lots of other places wth wonderful dishes spicy, coconut curry sauce and thick pieces of tofu and veggies. Too bad ...maybe get a new chef. Service was ok
I love this place! The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable. The portion sizes are good. They're also really quick even with a party of 6. Service is also good, the woman there is super friendly. I frequent this place, and would definitely recommend it to anyone who doesn't care for ambience or decor.
Ordered the rolls and Phad Thai, really disappointed compared to the last time I visited (approx a month ago). The rolls were soggy, kind of tasting like the oil old and not hot enough. The Phad Thai was also very bland... dissapointing...
Good and tasty food! Addictive taste. I was fully satisfied after my meal.
Very fresh and tasty, we ordered to take away, 3 appetizers and 2 main dishes are too much for 2 poeple, but we have tomorrows lunchs. Pad Thai is a must have and Bo bun slightly disappointing.
Been eating here since 2002. Yes I live 350km away, but any trip to/through Kingston always has a pit stop at the Golden Viet Thai. Still trying to figure out if it's Vietnamese food, Thai food or just Crack Cocaine because it's addictive as hell and I have been constantly craving it for the last 6 years. Gimme my fried spring rolls, ginger chicken, lemongrass beef and sweet and sour chicken!!!
Great service but the dishes were very heavy on the rice portions, hardly any sauce and vegetables, tiny bits of tofu. Weak veggie choices. Rice paper rolls were good but sauce was bland. We'll try one more time.
I have had #14 and #15, both are excellent. Hot and sour soup and spring rolls are the best in Kingston.
They are so friendly here. The service is quick ... I have never waited more that 15 minutes for my order even during the peak hours. Though the quality isn't always the same (some days there is more sauce than others) it is always hot and well packed.
Im having the worst luck with Thai in kingston. I heard great things about golden viet thai so I thought I'd try it out. I order number 16 phad thai...which is probably good, but they gave me #17...when I called in they said i should come back, but I live a distance and this is a real inconvenience, I say Ill keep what I have, so I start to eat it only to find a long hair in it. Ill try it again and try and actually get what i want but im throwing this stuff out right after i write this.
We picked this restaurant from the reviews on this site for our trip to Kingston. It was great. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and attentive. The decor wasn't anything special, but from the other reviews we weren't expecting much and the staff and food were so good you won't care. The prices were ok and servings made for lunch the next day.
Went based on the recommendation of this website. It lived up to the reviews. The restaurant itself is not large and very basic in its decor but clean and bright A lovely and friendly lady greeted me and seated me promptly. I started with the Tom Yum soup ( Thai hot and sour soup ) which is my all time favorite. I have had a variety of versions of this classic, but this was far and away the best I have ever had. Most have some chicken or shrimp in them. I don't think I had the option here, but it didn't matter. The broth was tangy, with just the right amount of heat and a bit hardier and richer that others I have had. It was loaded with bamboo shoots which almost made it a dinner unto itself. I ordered a small bowl and wished I had ordered a larger portion. The pad Thai was good, but I have had better. It seemed to be lacking in flavor, and was a bit dry. If I have any complaint it is that I think they had the Pad Thai waiting under a heat lamp while I finished my soup and it dried out a bit before it reached me. I know that it is difficult to be exact as this is a busy place, but they should time the cooking of the entre to coincide with the completion of the appetizer for maximum freshness. In all, I really enjoyed my dinner at this lovely, friendly restaurant and am looking forward to going back on my next trip to Kingston.
I make a point of eating at Golden Viet Thai every couple of months. Food and service are always delicious and fantastic. Low prices and generous portions. Free banana tapioca dessert. How can you lose? I'll tell you how, you can't!
Wonderful, and we are regular customers, i like the 28
