Really consistent quality. Very tasty, the owner is extremely helpful with changing flavours for different palettes. Ordered 4 or 5 times. It takes a while to get but it's worth the wait.
Don’t order from this restaurant! Ordered delivery for 7 people last night, ordered at 5:45 didn’t arrive until 8:10 pm. Called at 7:00 to check on order, was told 20 more minutes. Called again at 7:45, was told the driver had left and it would be 5 minutes, finally arrived after 8:10pm. Butter chicken was horrible. Won’t order from there again. Just found out that my cousin who ordered from her cell phone received a call from the restaurant complaining that we didn’t tip thier delivery driver!
Would rate a zero but that's not an option will not eat here again considering I didn't even get my order
Indian cuisine is regional (like Chinese) so it was no surprise that the soup was quite different from others I have had but while thinner it was tasty and flavourful. The 6 onion bhaji were too many so I took three of the delightful morsels home without the two scrumptious sauces (one very hot but with a nice flavour). The shrimp were nicely turned if a bit bland as was the salad accompanying. The ice cream ("kulfi") was amazing sweet and rich (they start by boiling the cream!) but not cloying and refreshing after a lovely meal. Service by a young local Indian fellow was attentive, prompt, friendly, knowledgeable and very courteous. Nice place.
I've gone to Touch of India a handful of times, if only because I can never seem to catch them when they're open. Despite this, the food has always been wonderful, the service is great and the servers are always the nicest. I always order the vindaloo curry and the chef remembers to make it extra hot for me.
Had a great casual dining experience last night. We all had the dinner special - very good...nice portion, well presented. Had a few cold Indian Brews, stayed laughed, talked for 3.5 hours with friends...it's not fast food, it's good food!
My boyfriend and I went into this restaurant with high hopes after seeing that it was quite crowded and had a bunch of award certificates on the display windows. Service and atmosphere were average. The menu was given to us on time. However, one look at the menu, and we were both laughing...it was hilarious that they should keep main course dishes as appetizers. My boyfriend and I are both from South Asian backgrounds, so we knew what we were looking for, and had had enough experience with Indian cuisine at home and in restaurants. Once ordered, the dishes looked dull, were in very small portions compared to other rival Indian restaurants who serve more for the same amount if not less, and the spiciness in the dishes was uneven...it seemed like the wrong things on the menu, like korma which is supposed to be slightly sweet, turned out to be extremely spicy. One of the curries seemed to taste more like tangy chutney than a real curry. The amount of meat in the dishes was pathetic, the naan came in cold sometimes. We couldn't order as much as we had wanted to as things were getting a little out of our budget, but that was our problem. Needless to say, I don't think we would have been very eager to spend more if we had the choice to. The dessert was sub par, tasting more like something that was microwaved. The food overall did not feel fresh. After we left the place and told other Indian friends about it, they laughed at us and told us never to go back there.
I went to this restaurant after reading the many wonderful reviews by other members of Restaurantica and was looking forward to a delicious meal. Upon arriving at the restaurant we were made to sit without menus for nearly ten minutes. We finally had to ask for our menus and then proceeded to order 3 dishes along with tea. After 45 minutes of waiting, I inquired about the state of our tea, to which I was told it was not yet ready.... Needless to say, it should not take bloody 45 minutes to make a cup of tea. Our food finally arrived after over 1 hour of waiting and complaining once again. The saag paneer we ordered looked like raw paneer dumped in a dish with frozen spinach. I could make better at home in 5 minutes. The channa masala was completely undercooked and the mixed vegetable curry was bland and mushy. Overall, the food was horrendous and an insult to Indian cuisine. The experience I had was torturous and I would never step foot in this restaurant ever again.
I had never had Indian food before I came here. My boyfriend and I were actually just walking downtown St. Catharines on a Sunday disappointed that our favourite Mexican place wasn't open. So we stumbled upon this little place that didn't seem to be much from the outside, but was bustling with people on the inside and boasting PULSE Niagara awards in the windows. So we thought we'd try it, SO glad we did. I had the butter chicken and my boyfriend had their special which was an arrangement of several different foods. They were both absolutely fantastic. Such different flavours than we're used to! I've already returned and experienced the same amazing flavours as the first time. As well as the delicious food, the servers are always very sweet and attentive. We found it to be slow at times but they were very gracious and welcoming nonetheless. Definitely a must try if you're in the St. Catharines area! or even in the Niagara region in general!
This was one of the better Indian restaurants out of about 6 that I've tried. The vindaloo was really hot (the way I like it). The service was very good and after a brief discussion about our great meal, our server took us back to the kitchen to see the tandoori oven. Everything was clean and orderly while the other staff were preparing some things from scratch. It's in an older building in downtown and the interior is a little dated. But on further inspection the place was spotless. I look forward to eating there again.
The food here is authentic indian, and is VERY good. The service is always prompt and friendly. It is a simple, honest, and well run business. The decor is nice, but not trendy in the slightest. We have been about a dozen times over the last few years.
I went here with a friend for a small project we were doing. It was empty at the start, but then when they dimmed the lights, turned up the music and more people started to come in, it became nice in there. Overall, it's really not a busy place. The food was good, and very filling. At first we thought they were small helpings, but they were very satisfying. I would recommend it.
Absolutely yummy!!! We took a couple of friends here after reading all the reviews, and they were ALL correct! The atmosphere is a little old school, but the sitar music was quite cool to listen to! Our waiter was lovely and very friendly. I can't say enough about the food - the boys loved the "hot" of the beef vindaloo - very well spiced. We all enjoyed the butter chicken - the sauce was flavourful and the chicken was nice and moist, and the interesting cheese dish - very smooth and tasty! The boys also tried the beer - Cheetah - regular and dark, and enjoyed it! Overall, we really enjoyed the entire experience and will make this the only Indian food place we ever go! The prices were also amazing - we shared a LOT of food for a very reasonable bill at the end!
We always have a good time at this restaurant. The atmosphere seems to be conducive to great onversation. I would recommend this place to anyone. Make reservations ahead of time because it is often full at prime times. They do not rush anyone but if you need to be out of there at a specific time just let them know and they will accommodate willingly.
I'm so dissapointed in myself, I've been living in St. Catharines for 20 years and I just ate here for the first time last Saturday. I had the lamb curry and it was amazing, I almost passed out it was so good. I am going back the next chance I get.
This is our favorite restaurant. The food is great, and the staff are all very nice people.
I went there with 3 employees and the food was horrible. It was filled with grease, oil, and the Nan Bread was totally burned. I thought the food was infested with oil and grease, my employees and I could not eat anymore and had to leave the restaurant. The service was alright though, I did not like the food they made at all.
Having eaten at many Indian restaurants across Canada, I would rate the food here top notch. Very good flavours and hot means hot! Portion size was very good, my husband and I both had left overs. We will definitely return!
We loved it! Service and food excellent. Nice quiet atmosphere. Management very nice indeed. My son loves HOT Indian food and he really liked this place. Suggest candles lit on tables and a better wine list for white wine if choosing by the glass. We would definitely go back again!
I actually haven't eaten yet today. I just placed the order a few moments ago. But I've been dining at this restaurant now for nearly 12 years and I can tell you I've not had better. This team provides better service, food and character than similar classed restaurants in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Chicago, New York, NY and Washington, DC. I've never had a bad meal, bad service or any thing I would consider disappointing. I would and do recommend this restaurant and we've initiated many fiends to A Touch of India and they too continue to go back. Enjoy!
