The Bus Terminal Restaurant has been a go-to eatery on the Danforth since the 1980s. The building dates back to the late 1940s and was originally the last stop on the Bloor-Danforth subway line. Inside, the retro decor of this fun diner reflects the building's interesting history, and the old-fashioned burgers and all-day breakfasts have people coming back for more.
“The owners were chefs at other restaurants before making The Bus Terminal Restaurant their own,” says general manager Chantal McDonald. “They have preserved the environment of the bus terminal; their main focus is bringing comfort, good food and a friendly environment to the table."
This subway stop turned diner is a relaxing place for guests to eat and socialize, though things pick up quite a bit on the weekends. Customers are not limited to a strict menu here; orders can be easily modified to satisfy even the pickiest of palates without any hesitation from the kitchen staff.
This diner has been a fixture on the Toronto breakfast circuit since 1948, and for good reason. While the menu has changed a little since then – adding some international dishes to keep up with the changing neighbourhood – Bus Terminal Diner still retains the same staple diner fare. Breakfast here is a simple affair done right. They have all the standards you’d expect, from bacon and eggs to pancakes and fruit.
