Great food, Always. Their Friday Lunch buffet is excellent.
consistently poor service and food quality no matter which of their location I've been to. I was told they use msg and no wonder I got the worse blotting feeling after my last visit. to top it all off; their dishes were dirty w stains on them. I gave this place a chance twice...never again!!
Walked by The Host many times over the years, but Indian cuisine was not my thing. Got married, and my wife loves Indian food, so thought we'd give it a try. Summerlicious in TO so fixed price lunch = $15. This place was great. Quick service, excellent portions, and very tasty (although I wasn't that adventurous, with my order of Butter Chicken). Perhaps they've responded to the poor reviews below to step it up a notch? We'll definitely return.
I've eaten and ordered from the Host at the Prince Arthur location many dozens of times, however tonight's food was a unpalatable mess. We ordered through Orderit Canada, and what arrived was the food you would expect from a strip mall buffet: Kesri Pillaw (boring yellow coloured rice), Tandoori Murg Chicken (red brushed chicken with no flavor what-so-ever), Khandani Nan (doughy tasteless flatbread), and Lamb Roganjosh (a thin, unsavoury curry sauce lacking in the right balance of sweet and salty spices). We called Order It to complain, and The Host as well. Incredibly, the manager - Indrani said that she hears about these horrible complaints "everyday"! She also said that we should complain about it on dining sites so that the owner wakes up to the cheap Indian labour that he is hiring. An expensive waste of money on what use to be one of Toronto's best quality Indian restaurants.
We were greeted by a very courteous hostess. Drinks were served without much delay. So far so good. Now the surprise. Except for the Naan, nothing had any taste at all. All food preparations seemed to share the same gravy with tasteless boiled meats and vegetables thrown in. Vegetable side dishes smelled and tasted like they had gone through a few cycles of freezing and reheating. Overall a terrible disappointment. A Far cry from the good old days of the Host Establishment when they started out a few years ago. I was so embarassed to take five important guests there. Will never go back.
I booked The Host for my girl friend's birthday dinner as their menu seemed a tad different from your regular restaurant. Having read some of the other reviews I was slightly nervous . However, we were pleasantly surprised by great quality meal for a bargain price, in a beautiful location. I would definitely recommend.
OK - I have just about given up on "The Host" after a few tries! The big problem is, it's just too patchy. In the past we've been when the food was great, if more expensive than some other places. But twice now recently, we've had a bad experience. We've had to wait to be seated even though we'd booked; we were ignored by indifferent or sometimes even surly staff; and worst of all the food was mediocre. I think they're just relying on their downtown location & their fancy website and have given up on effort. There are other upscale Indian restaurants around these days. In future we'll be spending our money in restaurants where we're made to feel welcome & not just a nuisance.......
A frequent visitor to The Host Restaurant, I am continually surprised by the quality and value for money this restaurant offers. The food not only looks exquisite on the plate, but is also exquisite on the palate. Front of the restaurant's sun room offer stunning ambiance. On my last visit the service was not up to the mark.It seemed they were understaffed for fully pack restaurant.
Host does the best Indian food I have ever tasted, I have family who visit during the year, and the first thing they always say before they arrive is "Book the Host". I would challenge anyone, who says that they have eaten the best Indian food, to try the Host. Good food...Good surroundings...and great staff...and a fabulous wine list.
Host has an exciting, and cosy atmosphere. The food is very enjoyable, and the portions are large. Overall, Host is an excellent Indian restaurant which I will return to time and time again.
Wow. What a bunch of jerks. I should have read the reviews in addition to the word of mouth advice I got on the matter. It took forever to be seated, and I was basically ignored. Even a single patron is important to a restaurant! There's MUCH better places in this city. Don't waste your time with this expensive, unfriendly, uninteresting establishment.
The was without question the worst restuant I have been to in the city. When we got there, we had to wait for 20 min for someone to greet us. One of the waiters saw us waiting and told us to "sit there". The food took over an hour, and all tasted the same! I suspect the samosas were from the grocery and were previosly frozen. The portions were also very small. The meats had a huge amount of sause with very little meat. The waiters were rude to some of the customers and some of them had crumbs and food around thier mouths while they were serving. I think they were eating while serving. Overall very bad at all levels. Total waste of an evening
first time i had bad experience, this time i went with one of my business customer very bad and i was very imbressed
Don't agree with some of the new reviews I am reading here. This is an excellent restaurant and this is coming from some one who is been visiting Host for over seven years.
It was not very good at all. we spent over 400 and didn't enjoyed. Manager was not very tidy looking. I guess didn't sleep last night. overall I am not impressed. I heard about this restaurant alot but I think I give 2 out of 10 only.
I ordered it came very fast which surprised me. Something wrong in the back
first food came very late and food was cold too. not again
I never thought that it goes into water. I felt like everything was not right specially when I saw waiter was talking to Indian couple very rudly. I didn't find very good. Second food was cold and naan burned. Only one thing I like at the host only wien and kingfisher. never again
I order very mild food. I am Indian but my stomach cann''t take spicy food but food came very spicy. when I asked waiter said he had prepared food so we cann''t do much here. I was surprised because The host has only name or they treat differently.
Their spiceness was from 1 - 4 stars.. I had dishes that had 2 stars... they were spicy.. I got a stomach cramp.. but the food is good :)
