Pilates du Plateau offers personalized Pilates lessons in its cozy Duluth street studio, to clients of all fitness levels and abilities. “We keep the groups small so that we can provide each participant with the attention they deserve,” explains owner Jun Liu. “It’s important that everybody understands their body’s functioning and to be able to adjust accordingly as they practice.” Pilates du Plateau’s clientele can also benefit from workouts using the studio’s TRX system, where, just like in Pilates, the emphasis is on balance and muscular stability.
Jun studied Exercise Science at Concordia University, with a concentration in Athletic Therapy, and she complements her training with experience in other fields such as athletics, gymnastics, tai chi and wushu. “I worked in various studios throughout the years before opening my own in 2010," she says. "I also taught Pilates in Hong Kong and Ottawa, which allowed me to draw inspiration from different people.”
