As far back as she can remember, Josée Amesse, the owner of Virtuose Communications, has always had a passion for languages and words. The writer received a BA in French literature from McGill University in 1980 and a degree in translation in 1996. After years of working in administration, she felt it was time to turn the page and write a new chapter in her life. In 1994, she changed her career path to follow her passion: translation.
Josée has been a certified member of the Quebec professional translators association, the OTTIAQ, since 1998, which allows her to translate official documents and fact-check the information for accuracy.
Along with being a translator, she has also published the novel Ivresse d'amour (Drunk in Love) and two collections of poems, including Une envie d'océan (A Longing for Sea). She also owns a publishing house called Les Éditions Droit au Coeur, through which she published Les Mots du Coeur (Words of the Heart).
"I have a Facebook page called Les Mots du Coeur, where I post excerpts of the book almost every day," says Josée. These collections of poems are very special to her as they allow her to give free rein to her creativity, something she feels she is unable to do in her translation work.
