When speaking with Tandem restaurant owner Ericka Soleilhac, what comes to mind is a quote from writer Jacques Godbout: "Creation still needs luck." In 2011, the young entrepreneur and her husband, chef Pascal Turgeon, had been toying with the idea of opening a restaurant that would combine French cuisine, creativity and local products.
All this was part of a hypothetical, long-term plan that may one day happen on an off chance, until one evening, the couple was walking near the Jean-Talon market and passed a small Villeray Street storefront. Suddenly, the die was cast.
