King of the late-night eateries, Chinatown’s Golden Inn has long been the post-night-out pit stop for hungry downtown revellers. The recently renovated restaurant satisfies after-dark cravings with quick service and classic Cantonese dishes. Monday to Thursday, until 3 am; Friday and Saturday, until 4 am; Sunday, until 2 am.
Overlooking Centre Street in sight of the Centre Street Bridge, U & Me serves a lengthy assortment of regional Chinese and South Asian snacks and entrees. Its nighttime menu includes dim sum items, congee (rice porridge) bowls and dishes such as crispy tofu, salt and pepper squid and Singapore-style noodles. Daily, until 4 am.
The city’s hippest hotdog hangout features a walk-up takeout window for service well into the wee hours. Featured on You Gotta Eat Here for its wild, mile-high wiener toppings, it’s too cool for credit. Cash only, kids. Hours: Weeknights, 10 pm; Friday and Saturday, window service until approximately 3 am.
For all the salt, fat, starch and tummy-rubbing deliciousness you require after an evening of clubbing and pubbing, The Big Cheese is just the thing. Enjoy its take on the French Canadian French fry dish smothered in cheese curds and gravy and with toppings from Montreal smoked meat to Scottish curry. Monday to Wednesday until 9 pm; Thursday until 11 pm; Friday and Saturday until 3:30 am; Sunday until 9 pm.
