Great lunch spots in Summerhill
Toronto's Summerhill neighbourhood was named after Canadian transportation baron, Charles Thompson’s home. Ever since the North Toronto Railway Station was built on his Yonge Street property in the 1880s, and the construction of the Summerhill Subway Station, local shops and restaurants in the area have been thriving. Here are a few of our favourite spots to have lunch in this charming midtown neighbourhood.
Caffe Doria
1094 Yonge St, Toronto, ON M4W 2L6Open for both lunch and dinner, this cozy cafe is a popular Summerhill landmark that attracts Yonge Street shoppers with its gourmet espresso, rustic Italian fare and unpretentious vibe. Neighbourhood locals stop by frequently to enjoy a glass of vino and snack on salads, paninis and artisanal pizzas. The namesake pizza Doria is a thin-crust pie topped with grilled chicken, roasted red peppers and black olives. During the summer months, the picturesque side patio is an ideal spot for al fresco dining.
