Originally from Spain, tapas is small, sharing-sized portions of food that encourage guests to sample and enjoy a wide variety of food. Other cultures and cuisines have adapted this style of dining, as tapas also inspires conversation with your friends since no one is really focused on their own plate. They are sometimes hot and sometimes cold but always delicious.
It feels like you’re in a wine cellar, and is the perfect place to enjoy a few libations with your small plates. Great bites include the popcorn brie (OMG!), coconut curry prawns and smoked salmon bruschetta. But, don’t forget to order a charcuterie platter, too.
This tapas place, located within Sabor Divino, serves up both hot and cold tapas plates. It’s recommended to get a mixture of both hot and cold. For the latter, try pequillo peppers, pata negra and almond-stuffed olives. For the former, sample the beef empanadilla, grilled eggplant package and wild boar feijoada.
A beautiful location to sit and enjoy tapas with friends. Past tapas include whole smoked quail, biscuits and gravy, caramelized onion and oka tart, and much more. Don’t get too attached to anything, as their menu “changes often, sometimes daily,” as they say.
Located in the St. Albert suburb, it is worth the trek for some great food and drinks. The popcorn is probably one of the best things ever. It’s actually popcorn with truffle oil, seasoned with heavenly things. And the bangers and mash are amazing, prepared with their homemade chorizo sausage.
Their cojondongo is strange to pronounce, but delicious to eat; a smoked whitefish in a sherry vinaigrette. The shrimp and grits are a perfect pairing. And, of course, the Alberta beef flat iron steak is delicious with a nice glass of red.
