Excellent sushi
The best sushi in Barrie hands down... the new owners are doing a great job just like the old owner did. Great friendly service and great, fresh food.

The best sushi in Barrie hands down... the new owners are doing a great job just like the old owner did. Great friendly service and great, fresh food.
For my birthday I chose Sushi this year. My husband is NOT a fan of Sushi. I was amazed at his reaction to the food. Everything was fresh and delicious, he ate everything! I was kind of hoping by orderding so much food we'd have some left over to take home. Didn't happen. We both really enjoyed it & would definitely go back.
This used to be called Izumi Japanese Restaurant. From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted in a friendly and welcoming manner, like friends coming to your house. The waitress was dressed in a kimono and the decor was Japanese. We went at 5 p.m. and it was quite empty, though by the time we left there were more customers there. We liked the private booths which have curtains you can close for privacy. Our server was polite and friendly, and prompt. After our order we were brought complimentary noodle & tempura soup. Then came our salads and the miso soups which accompanied our meal. Most everything on the menu comes with soup, salad, and rice, so you don't have to pay extra for sides. I ordered the chicken teriyaki dinner for $15.95. It came sizzling hot on a hotplate. A very generous portion, lots of chicken and veggies. Simply delicious and filling. It came with a side of sticky white rice topped with little black seeds. The dish reminded me of the sizzling meat and veggies you would get at a Mexican restaurant when you order fajitas. My husband ordered the beef teriyaki dinner combo for $21.95. It was beef teriyaki on a bed of veggies like mine, white sticky rice, a few large pieces of tempura shrimp, a few veggies fried in tempura batter, 4 pieces of raw fish (sushi) with a dipping sauce, a few slices of ginger and a dollop of something green which he didn't try. It was a very large dish and enough to fill the appetite of a tall and hungry man. It all tasted excellent and fresh. For dessert we had green tea ice cream for $5.95. I ordered it for myself but it was three or four large scoops and came with two spoons so my husband could share it with me too. We didn't expect to get such generous portions for dessert at a restaurant. The waitress was always circling around, but not in an intrusive manner, just easily accessible in case you needed something. We got personalized attention. She even saw me spill something on my clothes from a distance and promptly brought over some wet wipes. She was quick about filling every request. The only little complaint I had was that in the booth right behind us there was a little girl, obviously one of the owner's or staff's relatives, and she was sitting there watching a Dora DVD that was quite loud and didn't make for the greatest atmosphere, but eventually she left. We have a toddler ourselves so didn't mind much, but other pickier people may not like that. Overall though the restaurant is nice and quiet. I highly recommend this restaurant as you will get friendly and professional service, delicious food, and generous portions so that you will leave quite full. There are a few little extras thrown in such as a little soup, some extra veggies, etc. which is a nice touch. Just because the owners are Korean don't let this discourage you from thinking they don't know how to cook Japanese properly - they do! It is an authentic and delicious experience.
Good Sushi the best in Barrie. Serve my appetizer after the main course was served, luckily it was sushi. Please do not advertise a beer if you can not get it, please take it off the menu. The three times I been here was never ever ask if I wanted dessert before the bill show up.
Absolutely amazing sushi, best in barrie by far, and lunch prices are a great deal, soup and salad are included. Sushi was fresh, prepared by a real professional with a ton of experience. Everyone in our party rated the meal perfect, if you are on a time line for lunch, we only had 45 minutes, you just tell them or call in order ahead of time, they are very accommodating. Extemely friendly family owned...I eat there every day now...so good. unfortunitely no web site yet. 10 out of 10 sushi and service :)
