My boyfriend and I normally order the Himalayan dishes from here all the time, but tonight will be the last time we ever consider ordering from this place. The owners are completely rude and disrespectful, and apparently don't care about customer satisfaction in the slightest. We normally ask for delivery, and on more than one occasion we've received our meals in dripping brown paper bags, but we are normally able to salvage most of what we ordered and we never made a big fuss about it. Tonight however, was a different story. We received two brown paper bags and literally all of the contents tore through the bottoms of the bags and exploded all over our floor because the bottoms of both paper bags were soaked in sauce. Basically everything was ruined so we cleaned it all up and thew it in the trash. We called them back to let them know this happened, and right from the get go they were extremely rude and didn't seem to care. We paid $45 for this, and asked for either a refund or that new food be brought over, which seems completely reasonable considering the owner admitted this has happened several times before. However, they did not believe us and demanded that we bring in our garbage to prove it to them. It also took us 4 separate phone calls to figure out what exactly was going on as the owner kept rudely hanging up on us. In the end, they brought us two out of the three dishes we had ordered, without any rice that it's supposed to come with, and the delivery guy said they'd told him "this is all they get, too bad." and closed up shop for the night. It was honestly the worst service I've had in a very long time, and the last thing I expected from a local business. It will be the last time we ever order from this place again, and I would never recommend anyone going through what we did tonight.
I have been going here for years with my family and it tastes great! Like any place they have their bad nights, but for the most part I am always impressed with the food! Tip: you really need to be able to be able to understand accents pretty good!
My friends and I have been enjoying the Momo balls at the Belleville Waterfront Festval for many years. Little did we know we could get these scrumptious dumplings at The Oriental Wok. Fried or Steamed, the Tibetan Momos are a foodies dream finger food.
Wow. What more is there to say other than wow?! I've lived in the Belleville and surrounding areas for more than 20 years and never have I come across a more unique, delicious restaurant! This is my new go-to place for whenever I have an urge to indulge myself into healthy, inexpensive and tasty cuisine! The ambience is to die for, and the location is perfect. I never stop telling my friends and family to try this place out, it's been around for so long but still doesn't have the notoriety it deserves. Such delicious food shouldn't go unnoticed!
I ate there for the first time when my sister started working there about 7 years ago. I loved it. When my sister confirmed the hygeine of the kitchen, I was very happy and have recommended this chinese/hymalayan resteraunt to everyone. The inside needs a major facelift. The service is not always a+, the food is always amazing
I've only done take out here so I can't comment on the restaurant service, but I love the Himalayan food here. I think the Chinese side of the menu is just OK, but the Himalayan food is great. Will definitely go there again the next time I'm in town.
Terrible. I brought my family for a party and the decison was this place. When we got our food, alot was undercooked . My meat was cold and all they did was reheat it! no new one, or make it free. Just reheat it. the rest should speak for itself.
My family and I have been regular customers at the wok for years. My son has some food allergies and they are always happy to change the dishes for him (eg-rice thickner in sauces instead of soy). Every dish is made fresh and we have always been more than satisfied with the service. Also, there are some interesting dishes on the menu that are a little more adventurous than most asian restaurants in this area. You must try the momo's!!
This was one of my many excursions into the unknown. My father let me select a any restaurant, and mystery always appeals. I picked the old ooking restaurant with only one other car in its lot. It looked kind of forgotten when I went in, but it was an irregular time to eat out. The one lady who was working the desk seemed very friendly. Our food was served steaming hot and quickly. It was a nostalgic setting, and very comfortable. I very much liked the sweet herbal tea (and its presentation). I would have preferred it strained rather than having the leaves leaking into my cup, but that's the only oddity to report. I would definitely recommend looking past its slightly abandoned looking exterior, to enjoy a delicious oriental meal. :)
Was quite busy when I visited for the 1st time, and service was realtively fine. The food is to die for, you won't find anything else like it anywhere around the area. A very unique dining experience, and also comforting at the same time. Highly recommended for anyone.
I eat here all the time. Yes sometimes service is alittle slow, but i've only seen one person working the front at a time. And most things don't take too long to cook their anyways. Price is low compared to huge portions, both off the lunch and dinner menu. Everybody I take their has always raved on how good it was, no complaints from me. This is always a safe choice to go for great food!.
My mother and I had lunch today at the restaurant. It was our first experience with Tibetan food and Tibetan people. We could not have asked for more. The food was excellent, served piping hot and with only a short wait time. The Tibetan lady who waited on us was very friendly, accomodating and most efficient. The decor was beautiful and the restaurant had a peaceful air about it. We had Jasmine tea, a Tibetan spring roll each, and "Chicken Tibetan" (a mixed vegetable dish with bite sized pieces of meat, all in a mildy spicy sauce.) We enjoyed every part of our meal so much, that we ordered "Momos" to take home and have for our dinner. They were excellent too. A wonderful experience. We'll definitely be going back. We enjoyed a lovely conversation with the lady that served us while we waited for our momos. A lovely experience in all.
Best Chinese/Tibetan food in town. You must try the Tibetan spring rolls and the WonTon Soup. Excellent. Service is erratic - sometimes really slow, sometimes not bad depending on the number of patrons.
