How horrible! While visiting the area for a weekend trip we sought out this restaurant that had SUCH marvelous reviews. We left phenominally disappointed. Things stared well with our table on the deck that offered a pleasant view of the river, everything went downhill from there. The waiter disappeared for 30 minutes after our orders were taken. When he did materialize, he brought our Spring Rolls but none of the other appetizers we ordered for the table. Other tables were seated, ordered and served before we got a second glass of water. The table of five next to us that came in tem minutes after we did, had paid their check and left long before our entrees arrived. At least most of the entrees, anyway. Three of the four in our party were served their entrees while the fourth waited ten minutes before even being able to attract the attention of a different waiter. Two tofu entrees were unimpressive, the Sesame chicken tasted like it was flavored with fruity, sugary kids breakfast cereal (we called it "Trix Chicken") The War Bar, when it finally arrived, was nasty. It tasted like meat and veggies simmered in warm ketchup. This dish was ordered "hot" but was not spicy at all. The dumpling appetizers came last. When Asked "how is everything" we complained about the service, the food and the treatment we had received. The manager immediately grew defensive (why did he ask if he doesn't want the truth?) and made a series of lame excuses. For example, I was told that if I really wanted my dish to be hot and spicy, I should have ordered it "very hot" instead of just "hot" as listed in the menu choices of hot/med/mild. This is because when they "used to" make it hot, people complained. We left no tip and demanded that they take the dumplings off the bill.

I live in Buffalo, NY. I have been making the trip to Canada with my family just for Happy Jacks since I was a child. You can't beat the food nor the service! I brought my fiance to Happy Jacks for the first time several years ago - he's hooked now too. We go to Happy Jacks as often as possible. The general tso's chicken and pina coladas are the best I've ever tasted! Moreover,the staff at Happy Jacks is unbeatable - great service, extremely kind.

I have been visiting Happy Jacks for about...

I have been visiting Happy Jacks for about 2 years now, and have become very fond of both the atmosphere and the food. The wait staff is extremely pollite, and dishes are cooked wonderfully. I live in Ft. Erie, but work in Buffalo, and know many of my peers often cross the Peace Bridge just for the Happy Jack experience. Although some may have different opinions (based on the very few "poor reviews" I have read) it is definately a restaurant that needs to be experienced for the food, the atmosphere, the customer service, and the overall dining experience.

Let me begin by saying that whomever is slandering Happy Jacks in such a way is obviously a rival restaurant or just plain foolish. Now I know there's always the chance of bad orders/ poor meals at any restaurant but in the 4+ years i've been eating at Happy Jacks I must honestly say that i've NEVER been dissapointed with an order. They provide a clean, friendly and fun enviroment that makes you want to return in the future. I myself cannot wait until their outdoor patio re-opens in the summer, it can become very lively on busy nights.
