horrible food

I ordered from curry garden tonight, I picked it up and brought it home - now I wish I didn't. We ordered chicken korma and butter chicken with a naan bread and a side of white rice. Both meals were FLAVOURLESS - the naan bread was hard around the edges as well. The food was not spicey at all and very blan, overall the food was not indian at all - in my opinion. We will not be eating here again

Better than home

There are a lot of Indian Restaurants to choose from in London and at least 4 within the city block which contains Curry Garden. They all pale in comparison. What Curry Garden lacks in decor, it more than makes up for in service and taste. If you are not a fan of "spicy", they will cater to your request. If you like your curry authentically hot, they provide. The butter chicken sauce is divine. The chicken therein is tender and melts in your mouth. I highly recommend the onion bahji. Try their lamb korma or a vindaloo. Superb! And for the bill...you simply cannot make it at home for this price. The service is polite, attentive and warm. This restaurant has stood the test of time and the reason is obvious.

Good price, OK food.

Went for Sunday buffet. Good price, but not sure if the chef prepares the food more geared towards Canadians or just has no sense of authentic Indian flavour. Noticed some hot sauce options on the side but I would much rather have my food prepared properly. If you like affordable food that isn't spicy, I recommend Curry Garden. If you want a real Indian experience, go somewhere else. People who rate this high either a) were really hungry at the time (which makes everything taste "amazing") or b) do not appreciate true Indian cuisine

Oh no, not again

The reason you may see above average ratings here is because Londoners have no clue as what real food quality, flavor, service & atmosphere really is. It's really sad as this review could very well be for all of the restaurants in London.

Most Amazing Indian I've Ever Had

I visited Curry Garden restaurant about a year and a half ago with a friend. We were traveling, and went here for dinner during a long layover in our train ride. We stumbled upon this place extremely tired and luggage dragging behind us. The server was more than hospitable, and helped us bring our things in the door. We were the only people in the restaurant, and therefore received top-notch service. We ordered our food, and much to our delight the dinner combo we ordered came with a ton of food for a reasonable price. The dishes came on several plates, and were placed on a warming stand (beautifully designed by the way) to ensure the food stayed warm through our entire meal. The indian food served to us was simply the best I have ever tasted. I completely gorged myself, as I could not stop myself from continuing to pick at the food far after I was full. We both ate to our maximums and STILL had leftovers to bring home. I have unfortunately set the Curry Garden as my standard for prime Indian food. I say unfortunately, because no Indian food has come close to that of Curry Garden since I have visited there. Highly recommended, would definitely visit again. Unfortunately I am not from London and therefore do not have the luxury of going there regularly.

Curry Garden is Les than Medicore

I ordered dinner to be delivered and cannot comment about the restaurant itself but can say the following about the food... The Butter Chicken was watered down and rubbery. Samosas were really greasy. Tamarind sauce was more like jam. Everything was bland and boring. I love Indian food and have ordered from a number of Indian restaurants between London an Toronto and this is the worst I have ever had. I do not recommend it.

I ordered delivery, and it was delivered promptly, so that was fine. My issue was with the food and the pricing. First of all, it was expensive. For $30, I received two little cartons of food, a piece of naan, and 2 pieces of samosa. For that amount of food, I would have expected to pay somewhere around $15 - 20. I understand that most restaurants in London charge more than those in Toronto, but this is ridiculous. The food was also not very good. The paneer makni was so bland it was practically tasteless. The chicken jalfrezi was barely mediocre, and the only thing in my vegetable samosa was potatoes. I've bought better Indian food from my grocery store's frozen isle. Overall, the food had none of the taste you would expect from Indian food. You can't taste any of the spices and you know what, I bet most people can make better Indian food at home based on recipes you get online. On the brighter side, the person who answered the phone was nice and polite. Competent too, so I have no real complaints about the service.

I have visited this restaurant several times for lunch buffet and ala carte dinner. I have always been satisfied with the food. Granted it's not fine dining, but they aren't charging you for the ambience. I noticed that the reviewers that give it a poor rating usually order typical North American selections such as butter chicken or curry beef. This is probably why you're disappointed by the food. Try the prawn puri, the biryani, the mattar paneer or the jalfrezi.

This was our second & final visit. The food is average. The decor & cleanliness gets a -5(that is minus five) from us. The price is also average especially considering the $2/half hour parking fee. The only reason why we didn't give it a below average rating is because all of the Indian restaurants in London serve the same average food quality. It's as if they all sat together & decided to offer the most mediocre food possible.

Deliciously magnificent - ordered delivery & rec'd hot in properly sealed containers. We will be back very often, again for delivery as well as eat in - flavourful, nicely spiced, mouth watering aroma, excellent portions & healthy ingredients.

The good; The food was average to slightly above average. The service was good. The bad; No parking, bad location. Some dishes were either too salty or tasteless. Nan was hard & dry. The rise was old & tasteless. The ugly; The atmosphere, the chairs, the decor, the cutlery, the carpets. Really we could go on. As usual Indian restaurants generally do not believe in redecorating any less than every 20 years & when they do, they do it based on the previous decade's decor. Perhaps there was a sale. We might visit again only if we don't find something better.

I've been to indian restaurants all over the world and London is lucky to have one of this calibre. Curry Garden can hold its own against any of them. I order from here 1-2 times per month and am delighted every single time. For those who gave it luke-warm ratings, I can't imagine what they're after, but it's certainly not quality indian cuisine.

I've been visiting Curry Gardens regularly for nearly a decade, and have never had anything less than a stellar meal there. Indian cuisine is my go-to preference when I'm travelling, and I've eaten at Indian restaurants all over Ontario and the Northeast US, and Curry Gardens remains my favourite spot. The chicken dupiaza is tender, rich, and the chef is always happy to spice it to our taste (it's normally a mild dish, but my family perfers it with a Madras heat). Their thought of their onion bahji has quite literally kept me up salivating at night on occassion. Should also mention that Curry Gardens has hands down the best hot sauce I have ever eaten anywhere in any restaurant, ever. Period. The owner and staff are exceptionally friendly and professional. Did I mention I had them cater my wedding? Need I say more?

This is the best Indian restaurant that I've eaten in. I have eaten here several times, and I do not even live near the London area... I've made visits to family just to be able to eat the Butter Chicken and Prawn Puri. In the KW area, I still have not found a restaurant that compares in price, nor quality of food. The food has such a fresh, home-made taste and the curries have such complete and rounded flavours... I only wish I didn't live so far so that I could satisfy my craving more often!

This is, hands down, my favorite Indian restaurant in the city. Every curry I've had has been fantastic...butter chicken is the BEST. The naan is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with a slightly sweet flavour. The chutneys and relishes are a great addition to any meal. The service is always fantastic. Highly recommend both dining in and delivery.

My favourite restaurant in town by a mile! The food is absolutely amazing and service is always attentive but never intrusive. I have tried many dishes on the menu, but the butter king prawn always draws me back. A delicious, mild, sweet curry. The hot stuff is great too, especially prawn jalfrezie and lamb vindaloo.
