In 2011 long time friends Fatima Ansari and Parisa Naseri joined forces to establish Element Décor, a home staging and interior decorating company based in Toronto.
Having studied mathematics for her bachelor’s degree, Fatima began to think about a career change when she had to stay home and take care of her daughter. “I have always loved art,” she says, so she began to take continuing education courses at Seneca College in interior decorating while studying for her real estate license at the same time. It was then that she began thinking about starting her own staging company, which, ideally, would branch out to interior decorating as well. Fatima decided to contact her friend Parisa — who has great taste in traditional décor and colour matching — and from that call Element Décor was born.
While Fatima’s specialty is modern designs based on simplicity and minimalism, Parisa has a gift for traditional design, bringing antique pieces and vintage styles together to create spaces that are mesmerizing and classical. As a result, the duo’s collaborating means that they can cater to both the traditional and contemporary markets.
“We don’t just look at it as a business. We love what we do,” Fatima notes.
