It is a stinky and crowded place. The food is tasteless and not worth the price. The staff is ill mannered and slow,. They even forget forwarding the order to kitchen sometimes. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Excellent authentic Pakistani food. Dishes are tasty and well prepared by excellent cooks. This restaurant is real gem, one of the best Pakistani Restaurants in Toronto for sure! The service is the best I have experienced in a south Asian restaurant.
We ordered a takeout of Nihari, Butter Chicken and Beef Boti Tikka - I would not recommend either the Nihari or the Butter Chicken. Nihari - The Nihari was doused with dhania (coriander) and chilly paste which made it taste like anything other than the traditional/authentic Nihari which we know. Butter Chicken - First of all, butter chicken is made with tandoori chicken pieces, this however was made with regular raw chicken. And was so saturated with Red coloring! And there was no butter hence it did not taste like butter chicken at all. At best, it tasted like Red Chicken curry that was neither from India or Pakistan. Additionally, the reviews written earlier boast that this restaurant is one of the more reasonably priced Indo-Pak restaurants. I beg to differ - I could name several good and resonably priced restaurants in the vicinity but will not since I don't want to sound as if I'm advertising for them... After this experience we will not repeat a visit at this restaurant!!
I've been going to Shaheen since they opened up and over the years I've noticed a change in the taste mated with an increase in the price. The butter chicken remains to be the best I've tasted anywhere, it's just perfect for me, but, the other items, they've been on the bad end of a sliding scale. My choices are usually the butter chicken and one other dish out of the following: palak paneer, shaheen qorma, or the channa curry. The ownership has changed at least once and the current owner strives for a modern decor although in my opinion it's not needed. Simplicity is fine when the food tastes fantastic. Anyhow, I will always go back despite moving away from the area, the butter chicken is just that good.
In a run-down mall but with lots of parking. Restuarant is busy & pretty clean. Food was very good although portions are small - at very good price. Only problem was that we were sitting by the kitchen - from what I saw it wasn't too clean in there.
The resturant is newly renovated, washrooms were clean, the paint colour very nice, and the food was amazing.
Great food at an affordable price, although the service could be better. For the most part, the staff seemed uninterested in serving us.
I have been visiting this place for over a year now with family and friends. We always go on the weekends where the restaurant serves Halwa Puri breakfast until midday. The food is very reasonable in price and tastes great ... always freshly cooked and piping hot. For 4 dollars you get 2 large puris, halwa, aloo, chanay and a nice cup of tea. GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY!!
Absolutely some of the best pakistani/indian food in the GTA...what lacks in service makes up for the soft, piping-hot, delectable naan, sizzling kebabs and tangy tikka masala.
fresh food on time.......pleasant service, reasonable prices......and naans to die for!!
