This place is great! The staff are polite, the portions are BIG like their name describes and they have a lot of unique rolls like the sweet potato rolls. Best of all, it's cheap and tastes good.
I come here almost weekly! This place is by far the best along the strip of sushi establishments along the Annex. There's a reason why "big" is in its name: It's portions are HUGE! And that doesn't mean taste is sacrificed. I've eaten some of the most delicious sushi, miso soup, salad, and tempura at this place. Service is OK, but the real reason why I keep coming back is for the food and the low prices. I can't get enough!
I love this place! I always visit it at least once a week. Nevermind the self-proclaimed sushi connaisseurs that "know their sushi", this place is the best I have seen not only for the prices you pay. I have been to other sushi bars, paid double for half the size of the food you get in here and with a flavour that doesn't even come close to this. The service is fairly good. I never had any problems. The orders come very quickly and they are clean. The restrooms are not in the best conditions but then again you pay $5 for a roll of sushi so why would you expect excellent facilities?
Amazing place...i don't live in the annex anymore but will walk 30 minutes to eat here. The sushi is the freshest i have ever eaten and no place has ever compared! The dining area is a bit small and echos so its difficult to listen to yourself speak when you can hear everyone else's conversation. The service is a bit slow but otherwise the place is great! I've tried many other sushi places and always walk away thinking the same thing....it doesn't come close to Big Sushi!
this place is a little overrated. The name of the resturant atleast isnt a lie. Their sushi is fairly big but isn't tasty. Well i guess its tasty to you if you don't know your sushi. the prices were ok. but if your planning to eat sashimi the prices will punch a hole in your wallet.
People, if you complain about the service here like some then just order their takeout menu, which is amazing. Item 'T3' ($20 no tax) is perfect for one and the 'T4' platter is the best deal in town...$35 no tax and a ridiculous amount for 2 people. Unless of course you are a giant fatty and then you can eat the whole T4 yourself. I've done it once but it's seriously hard to look at yourself in the mirror the next day.
Excellent service from the staff-very friendly and attentive Prompt--don't have to wait a long time to be served.
we go out of our way to come here time and time again. it's the best sushi place on the map. they need delivery service.lol. the servers make all the difference as they are lovely and smiley.
This is my and my boyfriend's favourite sushi restaurant and we go here all the time. The servers are so helpful and friendly and the food is great and reasonably priced!
The food was okay, but I only tried the maki, and not so much the sushi pieces because they had messed up my order (they had given me the lunch meal rather than the dinner, and I was not asked whether I had wanted the lunch meal; and apparently, I should have told them when I was ordering, even though I had pointed to the dinner meal in the menu). Their service was slow and the couple beside us had even gotten up and left because their orders were not taken after sitting down for a long time. Their restaurant layout wasn't very practical because they had a whole other section in the back, so the waitresses completely forgot/ignored the customers in the front of the restaurant. Perhaps the service was terrible because it was a holiday, and they thought it wouldn't be as busy (there were only two waitresses). However, despite my complaints, my friend, who is a vegetarian, absolutely loves their vegetarian selection.
Sorry to be a wet blanket. The sushi is great. But the service, the wait time for something as mundane as tea and the menu made it a terrible experience. We will never eat here again.
Big Sushi is the place to be, if you enjoy great service, mouth watering sushi delights and a friendly atmostphere!! All of the food that went by me before my order arrived looked good, at one point I had started wishing I had a larger appetite. When my Caterpiller arrived -- my mouth watered so much, I had to dive right in!! It was beyond my expectations, so smooth and melt in your mouth delicious!! Two thumbs up!!
We LOVE this place, as a vegetarian I liked that they have options for me, though I have yet to try it there is a bento box that is veggie! The service is great and the seats are comfy. what more could you ask for? **********
Best sushi on Bloor St.! Very nice people, very good food, great prices.
I stumbled upon this restaurant when my 2 previous favourites in the neighbourhood were 1/closed and 2/too long of a wait/line up, and I'm so glad that I did! Big sushi has become one of my favourites in Toronto! (and believe me, I've tried many, many places in Toronto). In short, what I like best about Big Sushi, and what makes it a winner is: 1/the food - great tempura, bolgogi beef, and chicken teriyaki (WHITE meat - which I can't find anywhere else, and am always afraid of what I'll get) The miso soup and salad dressing are also my faves in Toronto. 2/the sushi - A LOT of selection and different rolls that I haven't seen in some other restaurants. Fresh and big! 3/service - is good, fast, and mildly personable. I've been to places with great food but absolutely NO SERVICE, this one is good. 4/the restaurant itself is always clean, modernized and BIG. It doesn't look big from the street front, but the seating in the back is great. 5/cost/value - especially at lunch, it's excellent for what you get (under $10 for the bento box described above). Dinner - full bentos are around $12 The only thing I miss that you don't get here (but I'll do without anyday for the overall taste and experience) is ice cream included with the meal.
They have a $5.95 lunch special every day (weekends included), which is incredible considering the awesomness of their sushi.
I come here all the time with my boyfriend, they know us quite well now. The rolls are the biggest on Bloor St, not to mention the best tasting, their salads are awesome and my boyfriend loves the Bento A. The service is quite good, and even if their English is a little off, all of the waitresses are very friendly and helpful. This is by far my favorite sushi place on Bloor St, and believe me I've tried them all.

This Annex charmer lives up to its name with a reputation for truly massive orders of dragon, California and dynamite rolls. Service is attentive and the sushi is consistently fresh and tasty. What’s not to like?
