Been to this restaurant many times. It's one of my husband's and my favourite Indian restaurants, hands down! Food is always yummy and consistent. Highly recommend!
LOVE this restaurant! They serve you the most DELICOUS mango/yogurt drink (complimentary) once you are seated at your table. Meat is always fresh, delicious, generous portions. I love all the variations of Naan bread that they make in house, fresh, hot and melts in your mouth. Service is wonderful and the atmosphere is very inviting and warm. I have been there over a dozen times now in the past year and have recommended the restaurant to many friends that have not been disappointed. A MUST try for fresh & delicous Indian Food!
June 4th- a possible rain cloud in the sky and Unionville was having an outdoor street fair. My date, Brad, and I went to the Ambiyan for dinner- it was packed, but we were greeted graciously by the owner. A ten minute wait and we were seated at the best table, in the corner...across from live jazz playing in the band shell. A little wait- due to the mass crowds could not dampen this mood... Who cares when the atmosphere and company is fabulous. (I did ask to be moved before the big rain drops started and voila a table miraculously appeared on the covered veranda). The food arrived- Chicken Vindaloo and Butter chicken, the vegetable Biryani rice and Naan we shared ....rice pudding followed. I have eaten and make Indian food- but this was Divine! Delicious! Outstanding! Amazing! and that was only the first bite! We all get that " face" when eating the first bite when something is extraordinary- well, we both had that " happy face"...followed by the mmm noise. Brad ( my date) loved his butter chicken- as he is the non spicy eater...but he did get gutsy enough to try my Vindaloo. What a brave man! Spicy - not upon entry - but as the taste explodes on the palette and hits all the sensors...with a little nose blow to ensure that it is fabulous! If there is not a runny nose with spicy food...then, it's just not right! There was also the cucumber accompaniment to soothe the heat. To cool all this off- we split a decadent rice pudding! The owner's wife makes it- creamy , rich and once again delicious! I told that that I was moving in...An Irish girl in an Indian restaurant...what would the neighbours think? I would highly recommend this restaurant for the food, the personal service and the atmosphere. A total pleasurable evening and please do not rush through this extraordinary experience- that would be very sad. Just enjoy and absorb.
