Meet the owner

Fishing is an excellent hobby and a great way to relax, but doing it for a living can be tiring and difficult. This is how Tan Tround was feeling in the early 1980s as his ship docked in Vancouver. He decided that, since he was now in Canada, he should find a more fulfilling line of work.

Arriving in Edmonton in 1984, Tan soon discovered his real passion was pastry, and he became a pastry chef. He began working in local bakeries and continued working in the industry, eventually being recruited by La Favorite Pastry Shop. When the original owner retired in 2004, Tan took the reigns as the new owner.
