For Leslie Meldrum, operating a quaint, family-owned restaurant where everyone she knows could sit down for breakfast or lunch was a long-standing dream. This is why she focused on getting hands-on experience in the restaurant business, starting at a young age. “When I was still in high school, I started working at a truck stop diner, which was my first foray into the restaurant scene,” says Leslie. “I loved it so much, I decided to focus on making a name for myself in this business.”
At the young age of 19, while working at a Pizza Pizza, she got an offer she couldn't refuse. “They offered me a franchise, which was an excellent way for me to become familiar with managing a restaurant,” says Leslie. “I said ‘yes’ and worked there for close to five years, then left, looking for other experiences. I worked in many different styles of restaurants for a while, gathering experience and getting familiar with different cuisines. Then, one day in 2003, I stumbled upon Scrambles, here in Ajax, and I loved it right away, so I bought it that year.”

Food is always great, service is always with a smile even when the girls are giving me a hard time. I'm usually in there 2-3 times a week and am very particular of where I eat but at scrambles I know it's always above par. Atmosphere is second to none what with all the comraderie and they even love the Leafs..... :-D
This has to be the best breakfast in town! The homefries are excellent and made with real potatoes. The french toast is great with bananas and the pancakes are fluffy. It is our own little hidden gem, and we are back most every weekend.
A terrific find. The coffee was superb. The owner, Lindsay, came by our table personally to introduce herself and ensure we were enjoying our meals. We were. Terrific breakfast staples, and quaint, customer focused atmosphere. We'll keep returning.
Wonderful local atmosphere - best chili you will find anywhere. Also Leslie (the owner) is ultra adventurous with her home made soups and lunch specials. The staff are all hard working and professional - but Leslie rules. We are now regulars and they even served special coffee at no extra charge leading up to Christmas. Also recommended the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict - I tried the "Newfie Steak" ask for it "medium rare" - and kudos to the chef he always makes your eggs exactly how you ask for them - keep Scrambling guys your number 1.
A warm environment and you always feel wecome there, like what they are doing. Great job guys
