Poor service. Two entrees good and one poor
I got the cedar planked salmon that was not fully cooked it came with a dill dressing on top which was really awfull and way to much of it the salmon was one of the smallest ive gotten at a restaurant. The waitress said it came with vegetables i got a small redskin potatoe the size of a gold ball cut in half and a slice of green pepper.... Horrible I will never return to this restaurant.
When we arrived, the place was dead and we ordered right way. Pepsi was flat but our appetizer came quite quickly. Our entress however took over AN HOUR to come. We were starving and the server just told us that the kitchen was backed up...but the place was empty when we placed our order! It started to get busy so I figured that the food must be worth the wait and it definitely wasn't. Both of our meals were terribly bland and definitely not worth waiting over an hour. When we complained to the manager he offered us a free desert but we were so tired of sitting in that place that we said no and left.
Took my Valentine out for dinner... went early to avoid any line-ups. When we showed up the dining room was empty, we were told we needed reservations to sit in the dinning area. Assumed it was about to get real busy we decided to eat in the bar area. Our dinner took us an hour and half to eat and there was still hardly anyone in the dining area, you think they could have sat us knowing when their reservations were coming in! That wasn't a great start... we had 3 or 4 people serving us, none were very good at doing what they were suppose to be doing, serving us without being intrusive. I'd rather not go to deep into the food critques other than to say I've had better meals at Swiss Chalet. Will never go back to this place... don't recommend it either.
This is a lovely place to relax and have lunch. A friend's recommendation encouraged my husband and I to come in. We had a nice lunch, the service was great, and the atmosphere was warming. They have reasonable prices for lunch, and a good selection.
When I checked the reviews here before dining, it appeared Carpaccio was a "Jekyll/Hyde" restaurant. I guess we went on the Jekyll night because the food and service was excellent, and this was on a weekend night to boot. The only down-side was that it was a bit noisy. So much so that it interferred with conversation. Otherwise, the serve staff and hostess were friendly and pleasant. Also, the bread is to die for.
My experience might have been good if the guy at the door smiled and cared that customers were coming in. Rice was hard, I wondered if it was even cooked and the lamb that I ordered medium was overcooked and salty. Can't believe this place is busy let alone open still!
other than the guy at front door who sat us - no smile or interaction with us we had an incredible dinner food hot & fresh cooked perfectly really enjoyed tomato garnish on fish, service very good for busy night, made up for lousy first impression from door we'll definetly be back for food. Nice decor & feel in dining room thanks
They have the best calamari ever, it's always cooked perfectly and served with aoili sauce and not marinara like it should be. The lamb was great. They also have a great lunch menu i go there all the time. The tiramisu is good too. They have a huge wine selection as well, which is very nice.
My husbands parents had wanted to go to this restaurant for a long time and finally in early June we went. We cannot believe all the rave reviews this place gets. Our food was "inedible". I sincerely mean this. And the service was not good at all. Either they are terribly inconsistent in the kitchen or owners relatives are writing the reviews. Our dinner tasted absolutely awful. My sister ordered a sausage, rapini, penne pasta dish that was absolutely inedible. Why, WHY is place busy every night?????????
I've had worse Italian but not for this much money! My wife's pasta was undercooked not Al Dente'.
tasty and hot risotto was cooked to perfection, should have ordered two full sizes salmon moist hint of smoke jumbo ravioli were very good great sauce desert plates decorated by an artist looked to good to eat after dinner on patio with drinks and music perfect way to end our meal thank you
wat a great meal great service beutiful restaurant even on a busy saturday night it was like our plates were top priority great kitchen staff must have a real pro running the kitchen thank you CHEF for caring about wat you do our food was perfect fresh and delicious well be back
no complaints on food or service food hot and full of flavour great atmoshpere in restaurant sarah our server was very helpful and attentive handeled wine mixup very proffesionaly incredible tiramisu really stood out all the way home thank you
drove to niagara from toronto for the weekend to celebrate my anniversary with my wife and friends. were absoloutely floored by the food and atmosphere everything tasted incredible perfectly cooked and flavoureful what a memorable way to spend an evening. finished meal with an imaginative wine tasting 3 flavoured ice creams sauvignon blanc- merlot- port &fig service topshelf!!!!!!!!! jim really knows his stuff pleasant and informative
WAT a wonderful meal everything cooked to perfection have never had grilled prosciutto waiter recommended it and it was great. use of saffron with seafood pasta was perfect combination stuffed chicken moist and bursting with flavour. i cn never get enough prosciutto thanks for birthday desert made the meal special. cant wait to come back for my husbands birthday!!!!!!! see you in july
The server said the steak was Angus beef but I'd bet the farm it wasn't. The steak was AA at best, no angus flavour at all. At $30 for the steak, it should be Black Angus. Only one choice of potato-mashed. Presentation was ugly. The pasta dish was nice. The pasta was a bit undercooked. The waitress was very nice.
perfectly prepared seafood wat a flavor rush from salsa chef really knows how to handle fish!!! salmon moist with hint of smoke from cedar not overpowering finally a crabcake with no filler pure sweet meat and that killer salsa-either mango or pineapple not sure which pasta portions a little large but enough to share as second finished meal with refreshing lemon sorbetto and a vanilla bean creme brulee that defys description sugar crust was perfection. Finally a restaurant that combines stellar food with a classy ambeiance. THANK YOU James for wine reconmendations and tips on wine tours in area
so nice to find an establishment that genuininelly cares about customers. Andreas wine recomendations and allowing Chef Vincent to prepare our appetizers was fantastic-great variety & flavours made our dining experience top notch -risotto was indesscribable, cooked by a pro- pork melted in my mouth quality and value was 100% we promised andreas we would be back for creme brulee he said it was worth the drive from oakville,this place is a true GEM!!
