In what used to be change rooms and an office at the back of a former consignment boutique on Queen Street East, there now resides some of the hottest records in the world.
At Tiny Record Shop, you'll find high-end collectibles like an early gatefold U.S. press on Verve, and first pressings of important records like Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, Sonic Youth, Prince, Madonna and Joy Division, all of which influenced the music we hear today.
“This isn’t a dollar bin store," says owner Trevor Larocque, who opened Tiny Record Shop in 2014 with his wife Maude Fallon-Davesne. The Riverside neighbourhood store supplies to a niche market within a niche market, he explains, where prices range from $5 to $400. “If you don’t understand what I’m doing, you’ll hate it."
Nestled in the back of Token, this boutique Leslieville record store is true to its name. The Tiny Record Shop is big on quality, offering a carefully curated collection of vinyl for discerning audiophiles, ranging from new releases by local and international musicians to vintage wax from old favourites. Are you looking for gift inspiration? The albums in the wall display are often arranged by theme, genre or artist.
