Since they both hail from Melbourne, a city home to a thriving coffee culture, the fact that Xavier Martinelli and Angus Castran’s association took the form of Melbourne Café should come as no surprise. "I had been working in both Montreal and France since 2009," Xavier explains. "I then went back to Melbourne, whereI met Angus, who wanted to open a coffee shop there at the time."Being their home city’s café scenewas extremely crowded and competitive,Xavier convinced his partner that setting up shop in Montreal was a wise choice."I already knew the city, that there was room for a new café to dig its roots andgrow in Montreal," he adds.
