After several years working in the movie business, Marie-France Simard wanted to change track and open a shop where she could let her creativity run free. Although she doesn't have children, she is drawn to their world. "It's a place that is made of make-believe, of wonder and creation and that draws me in," she explains.
Marie-France had noticed during her travels a revival in children’s things, but not in Montreal, where she found the current offerings rather monochromatic. She decided to open her store, Comme des enfants, in April 2014 on Bernard Street in Mile End. The location wasn't a random choice on her part. "I wanted a neighbourhood store that becomes part of a community and to bring my child's world to that place," she explains.
Jackets, T-shirts with short or long sleeves, sweatshirts with a leopard style print – there are many beautiful things in Marie-France’s shop, which is full of treasures. But beware: the shop located on Bernard West is closed on Tuesdays.
